We had a wonderful stay at the Lancaster Gate Hotel. Located in a quiet neighborhood, it was an easy walk to the local Tube station and Paddington, making it a convenient base for exploring London. The rooms were a normal size for Europe—comfortable and well-kept. Room service was excellent, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was a highlight, with a great selection and a personal touch that reminded us where we were. Visiting in February meant the hotel wasn’t too busy, which made for a more relaxed experience. Overall, a lovely stay, and we’d definitely return!
Good location and pretty exterior. An alright breakfast provided. If you're staying a night you are probably okay.nnThere were a myriad of larger issues however. The plumbing didn't work toilet wouldn't flush the electric sockets didn't work.nnIf you are going though and you don't want to use a wall plug or the bathroom, you might be fine, just make sure you bring your own bed. I moved down onto he floor in the middle of the night to feel some semblance of softness. I yearned for cold marble because there is more give in that than this mattress. It was the only bed that felt like it was laying on me rather than the reverse.
I stayed at the Lancaster gate hotel for 3 weeks recently. Amazing location very close to everything you need on your door step. Bus stop is a 2min walk and it runs 24hrs and 7 days a week easy to use. Very helpful staff and very friendly as well. Rooms are small and don't have much space for your bags a part from that they are fine. No fridge so be mindful of this.
Definitely stay here if you’re prepared for not having a proper rest and have sudden cold water when standing in de shower! But what irritates me the most: The walls are super thin, the wooden floor makes all kind of noises we could hear from rooms next and above us. Actually, we could hear everything! From light switches to toilet flushes. Enough to keep us awake or woken up at any time during the night. It all looks so outdated and dusty. Plenty of other hotel rooms in this area that give better value for your money.
This is a great value just off Hyde Park, very near two underground lines, several bus lines and a reasonable walk to Paddington Station. The immediate neighborhood has several pubs and restaurants, but not an abundance. The room was well maintained and nice, though we were on the floor below street level not quite a basement and I would have preferred being higher. Breakfast was nice and reasonably priced.
