Hotel was clean and tidy but the front desk check in area was a bit dated and cluttered. Rooms were clean but complete lack of any kind of soap to even wash your hands which i would have thought would be a basic necessity. Our double room was 2 beds put together so there was an uncomfortable area in the middle of the bed where they joined. Also mattresses were too soft for my liking. Apart from that, a nice stay!
I wouldn't even give this place one star! The rooms are dirty! You have to share a toilet with other guests which was even more disgustingly dirty than the rooms! The staff aren't exactly friendly or helpful! The TV didn't work...the lamps are just there for show with no plugs near by to plug them in. Curtains were hanging off the rail so couldn't close them! We even had two guests kicking off in the reception bit late at night, our room was opposite. The staff didn't even come out to remove them or tell them to keep the noise down. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone!!
Was so disappointed,£70 is £70 I would of rather slept on the beach! The lady literally talked and talked, allowed me to take ages logging onto there wifi which was hand written on the wall! Then took me to houses down that had another wifi system! She told me it was the best room they had-it was the top floor,6 exhausting flights of steep stairs,to a tiny room which was definitely not worth £70! Two other rooms on the floor, and had to share a bathroom-which morning toilet could not happen due to the other guests fighting to get in their, couldn't have shower before check out! Sink in our room wouldn't drain,no toilet paper in tiny toilet and tiny shower, the toiletries is a mini soap bar.have to use mobile to ring reception for them to fix sink, which they didn't,and for them to bring toilet paper! Would not return!
I unfortunately stayed two nights in this hotel. I could not open the door properly because the bed was behind the door, so I had to squeeze through a small gap to get in or out. The bed had one castor missing. Also only one pillow and one thin blanket. It was not possible to close the window because it was larger than the frame. The shower is communal and there are holes in the ceiling. The toilet seat was hanging off. Nothing to dry your hands after washing them, and no toilet paper. I was going to a wedding, but had to have a wash in the washbasin in the room, due to the horrible shower. Unfortunately the washbasin only had cold water. Every fire door was wedged open day and night. I removed the wedges 4 times, but they were replaced. When I left this morning, someone was smoking in their room. So presumably even though smoking is allowed the fire doors were still wedged. All safety out of the window. My room was up six flights of stairs, but as the door could not be properly opened, I'm glad there wasn't a fire. This place is a tragedy waiting to happen. Don't stay there
I do not think this hotel is at a five star quality the Hilton hotel etc however I think for the price you pay this hotel is phenomenal. When we arrived the lovely lady showed us in and gave us our keys, did a tour of the building and showed us our rooms. Once we got in the rooms we had a lovely balcony room with a tv and double bed. We had to share a bathroom as we did not go ensuite however the bathroom and toilet was incredibly clean no faults found. I personally found the bed was comfortable and I am a larger lad so I normally complain about hotel beds due to discomfort. Overall I feel the hotel was clean and tidy and it had a lovely atmosphere! i also feel that the sterling house hotel is situated in a lovely street right in the seafront, the town centre is a 8-10 minute walk away and their are various restaurants within a 2 minute walk from the hotel. I would reccomend Chans Dim Sum if you are in the area!
The bed was far to hard. No view. The ceiling was damp and all throughout the night all I could hear was terrible noises. No breakfast which I thought we would get for the price. The worker had me go into the toilet to remove a wet and stuck toilet roll. .we are paying customers and did not expect to be treated in such a way! Someone drew a face on our toilet tissue which was odd will not be returning back
Absolutely shocking. How this hotel is still open is beyond me. Hotel you say it was more like a half way house. We booked a family room, but 1st of all they wanted the Payment as soon as walked through the door. We asked where to park and got told to just try n find a space. We went back twice to say what do we do there's no spaces anywhere. We got told to park on the sea front. Still no success went back a 3rd time then got told there was a NCP carpark 3 roads down. Took us 25 minutes to walk back to the hotel. On entering the room. There was no proper bedding just a sheet and a fleece blanket on the beds the room was freezing the curtains were already closed. They tried to hide the cracked window that had sellotape over the crack. The draft was ridiculous. And my family member had to sleep right near it. The TV u couldn't watch anything due to interference and a very bad signal. Went to plug my phone charger in which looked a double extension lead when the plug went in there was a spark. It wasn't an extension lead it had fell off the wall with wires coming out the back of it and screws on the floor. The room was filthy with dust and hairs. The door was not secure one bit u didn't even need a key to get in. All u had to do was push it and it opened. The amount of people in and out the front next to our room was shocking watch different people come in and two people going in the same toilet together. I also got bit twice on my ankle. The next morning there was no1 to b seen to check you out and to see if your stay was good. Iv never felt so bad and dirty in my life.
Where do we start. Room 9 looked nice on first impression then boom. Thick Dusty wardrobe. Hot tap is the cold tap and visa versa. Extension lead is advisable to bring especially if you need to straighten hair etc. Cracked shower base. The vent or fan caked in dust. Cobwebs on ceiling. Stains on carpets and walls. Breakfast was continental. Not as the pictures false advertising. No where to park. The view was looking into another set of flats no net curtains. We have complained and was told that manager was going to speak to us she never acknowledged us. Oh and we was told that the room had recently been renovated. Sterling house hotel is actually spelt different its outside as Stirling. Im glad it was one night only. Breakfast room was in the basement and OMG spiderweb in the corner with 3 dead flies and spider included. Stayed: May 2017, travelled as a couple Sleep Quality rubbish as we were the other side of the fire door. Cleanliness disgusting. Service what service
Very bad hospitality. We have come from Germany at 1 o’clock in the morning , send them an information about check in late and they agreed . Afterward we came and nobody was in reception desk and didn’t pick the phone up. We spend 6 hours in the car waiting for someone to come . One nice hotel worker wanted to help us and he went to room tried to find someone responsible and l heard that one of them said swearsthat we are f...German people and he doesn’t care we are waiting from 6 hours outside the building !!!! Disappointed and very sad .
Rooms were very neat and organised when I went there. Lovely and nice staff. Tasty breakfast. Would recommend.Rooms: 5/5
