Front of house needs some customer care and training not a great meet and greet.nYou can't check in until three and nothing is open the bar opens at six missing out on a big opportunity.nRoom was a great size superior double room.nFurniture was old but didn't matter as we were hardly there .nGreat location parking over the road £10 for 24 hours using Ringo well easy .nHad a great time great sea view .nAnd lots of choice of restaurants.
My partner and I had two nights at this hotel. As I have always been told first impressions are everything, they must have missed that out in the training of the front of house staff, one in particular was the young lady on the front desk she was so sour and unpleasant it was a relief to leave. After looking at the hotel on line we thought it would be nice to have a view of the water plus a terrace. So we booked the executive room at just over $800 NZ for the 2 nights. For a non smoking hotel there was cigarette butt's on the terrace it hadn't been cleaned down in a very long time the terrace door would not shut properly, the lift was so dirty there was a food wrapping on the floor of the lift that stayed there the whole time we where there. It seriously needs a makeover. The wifi is really bad but I think they do that on purpose so you pay for upgradenDo not stay at this hotel it is horrible.
Our stay here was disappointing, despite the amazing seaside view the state of the room was far from nice. The beds was two single beds squashed together, window ledge had dead flies cobwebs and other debris all over it, both chairs was riddled with unknown stains, they provided tea in a used sandwich bag, the kettle was had limescale all over and the temperature in the room was catastrophic with no way to regulate.
There were just two things I did not like about the Cavendish Hotel. Firstly the website stated that they had a full laundry service, but when we enquired there was none. Secondly the long haired, young girl on the front desk was lazy and sulky to the point of being rude. We asked for some sachets of milk as the supply at reception was empty. When she got more she just plonked them down with absolutely no comment. She had even dropped one on the floor when walking from the storeroom and didn't even stop to pick it up - just left it there. This morning when we left we went to the counter to hand our key cards in, she was sitting in the office and didn't even turn around or acknowledge us. Two other guests were leaving at the same time and I overheard that her only comment to them was 'what room number'. I would not stay at the Cavendish again because of her, I wouldn't want want to feel I was contributing to her wages .nOn a brighter note we loved Eastbourne and consider it is a destination perhaps overlooked by tourists.
This hotel is bad budget. No bag service. 1 lift to all floors a small lift not big enough for purpose. The dinner is self service 3 course but nothing looked appetising and did not taste of anything gave me stomach ache not a good start to my stay. The room has lighting in the window only. The room is noisy even with the windows closed it's noisy not pleasant at all. The only positive points are It has a working tv and the shower was nice and warm and it has tea and coffee in the room.
