A very clean, welcoming and comfortable hotel with easy parking and great team supporting you. The pool, sauna and steam were good and again very clean. The gym was good but maybe a little sparse of equipment and when we went due to the number of people in there hard to get on, however it was a bank holiday weekend so it was expected to be busy. The views from the lobby and restaurant overlooking the river and bridges were spectacular and made the trip even better. I will definitely be using this hotel again.
This hotel is in an excellent location central to Gateshead and Newcastle. I have stayed here twice recently and had a great experience both times.nnThe rooms have been clean and spacious, with one of the rooms featuring a bath. On my most recent visit I was given an accessible room/bathroom which I thought was strange as I'd imagine these rooms would be more needed for people with additional needs? Either way the room was nice and I appreciated the extra space despite not requiring it.nnBreakfast and room service were both delicious and all staff members have been professional and polite. My only feedback would be that the rooms were quite dark with no 'big light' in the middle of the room, and there is an absence of plug outlets near the bed for charging with is an essential for me when travelling.nnDespite this, I would definitely return to Gateshead and choose this hotel.
Good staff on the ground, but let down by poor management, dated rooms and infrastructure.nWe stayed for 3 nights for a conference. The location was reasonable for The Glasshouse but quite awkward for getting to the town centre on the other side of the river. Despite belonging to a high end hotel group, the rooms appear unchanged from their original design 20 years ago - insufficient ceiling lighting and non adjustable bright, unshaded bed lights. No sockets at bedside. The air handling units for the rooms are terrible - noisy and ineffective. With no ability to open windows, air conditioning is paramount. We were unable to reduce the room temperature below 24C overnight despite staff attempts. This is a known issue amongst multiple rooms in the hotel and has not been resolved over several years.nThe breakfast area is ill thought out and too small for the hotel capacity.nDespite this, the staff worked additionally hard to try to compensate. Breakfast service was excellent - thank you Daniel and Nicola in particular. We were also grateful to Georgie and James who facilitated a room change.
I stayed at this hotel with my son for the first time in August, and came back and stayed twice more as we had a fantastic experience. Claire and her team go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. The hotel has amazing views and is in a brilliant location for everything. We had executive lounge access and again the staff we encountered were just the best. Geordieland at its finest, now one of our go to hotels.
We stayed the night at this hotel for leisure purposes and enjoyed our stay despite some minor issues. As you enter, the foyer is gorgeous with a water feature and lovely views. We were looking forward to a warm shower however most if not all of the shampoo, shower gel, conditioner had sadly ran out when we checked in. the next morning we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast and requested pancakes which were delicious. Sadly the fruit provided raspberries were mouldy from the inside which was quite upsetting however this did not disrupt from our entire stay. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
