In many ways this is just what you want from a city hotel, near the cultural Sage, next to the Baltic art centre AND next to the Quayside full of bars and restaurants.  The bed comfortable,  room big enough, toiletries and a good bath and shower. Reasonable price. Only criticism, just not quite enough attention to detail.
There are parking spaces at the hotel, 8.50 for a ticket.

Room ok, although the bathroom is very small. However, they got our room booking on completely the  wrong date, and then argued  with us that we were "no shows" - despite us having a copy of the email confirmation of booking. They refused to acknowledge that we had also booked breakfast, again despite having email confirmation. On going back to our room after the first day, they had cancelled our room key cards! Breakfast on Saturday morning was distinctly average - overcooked and dry. The orange juice was well past its use by date as it was actually fizzing with a head on it!! Staff were surly and rude, especially the bar staff - a bit much considering the prices. We will never be returning to this hotel again.

Seriously basic rooms for the price and they nail down the soap. Old decor and an 8 pound parking fee for the privilege of paying to stay here (just drive out the entrance instead). Staff are nice and helpful which saved thus review one star. Wouldn't stay here again. Ever.

Not my first visit to this hotel, have always found the staff most  friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The hotel is in a good location and easy to get to. A short walk over the Tyne and you're in Newcastle.
Very comfortable beds. The executive room is much larger than a standard room, but both offer good value for money.
Good choice of food in the restaurant and a superb buffet breakfast in the morning. 
The only very slight downside is the limited car parking, but other than that, always a perfect stay.

Lovely place. Was there for a private function. Very slow with the meals making the entertainment late to start. Food was lovely and venue great.
