Honeymoon night number 9.nDidn't realise we had booked the Gateshead Leonardo until we got to Newcastle. But of a trek from the metro to the hotel but thankfully all downhill.nAs we arrived later than check-in, there's was a coach party arriving. This did not delay our check-in and we we were soon in our room.nFront desk has a direct taxi call and we got a message when our taxi arrived.nThe room was well appointed and very clean. We found the location to be in gentle walking distance of Newcastle town centre along the quayside and over millennium bridge.
This seemed to be reasonably priced compared to other hotels in Newcastle and it's only a short walk over the millennium bridge to the quayside at Gateshead. It's worth paying a little extra for a river view. The common areas are really nice. Reception were really pleasant and helpful.. The standard room I had was absolutely fine. Almost four star but not quite as it's a while since the bathroom was decorated - but overall absolutely fine.
We enjoyed a great value stay of £60 per night. The beds are DIVINE and I could have stayed forever! Yes, the bathrooms are a little tired and musty smelling and the air conditioning doesn't work, but we had everything we needed and it was no big deal. We'll definitely stay again.
A friendly and welcoming greeting on arrival set a nice tone for the stay. The room itself was fairly standard—clean and functional, but nothing particularly memorable or standout. Nothing to really make me want to eat an evening meal, poor vegetarian choices. Breakfast was enjoyable with a good selection and decent quality. Overall, I had a pleasant stay. It’s not a hotel that wowed me, but there was nothing to fault either. A solid, no-fuss choice for a night in Newcastle.
Decent hotel in a great location.nBreakfast was good with a wide selection.nCar Park was small and £8,50 a day, so decent price.nAnother car park next door. Not sure on that cost.nWould use again.
