Reviews
As per other reviews this is a really friendly hotel. The staff are very welcoming. The rooms have good views of the river but again, as with other reviews, although there's nothing particularly wrong with the rooms, the beds are comfortable etc etc, they just seem a little dated in comparison to more recent rivals at the same price bracket in the area. However, this is a decent hotel and I'd certainly use it again.
Staff were all really nice and welcoming throughout the hotel. Large foyer and dining area. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful with a good choice...especially liked the pancake machine that made hot and fresh pancakes. Never seen one before but it was simple to use and great for breakfast. The dining staff were all exceptional.nOverall a nice stay...with a few little niggles...hallways to the rooms were a little bit shabby skirting boards scraped and could do with brightening up a little. Quite dark when you come out of the lift to your floor. The rooms could offer an extra blanket, however I'm sure reception would sort something out.nOverall a nice hotel and would stay again.
Room a bit dated but large, clean and comfortable. Also a bit cold, gad to turn up the air-conditioning. Excellent staff throughout. Nice .eal in the restaurant.nTip: if going into town after checkout, dump bags in the car before handing in the keys, so you can use the lift!
Newcastle car parking is a pain, so linked discounted car park at 12.50/day is useful. Riverside views, although not spectacular are nice. Some slight noise from the nearby rail bridge but didn't bother us, but if you are a light sleeper worth considering. Very clean rooms, slightly ageing so might have issue here and there. Ours was the condensation due to fan not working, but not a biggie. Comfy beds. Nice big LED TV to watch. Lots of storage. Hairdryer and a multifunction socket for charging lots of devices. Front desk staff very friendly. Lovely entrance hall and as it was Xmas they made a great display in restaurant. We did not eat in, so cannot comment on food. Would stay again.
Really disappointed with my stay. Had to wait for 5 minutes for hot water to start running in the morning the second morning my shower wasn't even hot enough. Not a lot of stuff in the room in terms of biscuits and coffee supplies, i was cold and found a radiator in the wardrobe which wasn't working at all. Breakfast was the driest i've ever had the hash browns and the bacon had a horrible aftertaste, I never touched it. Staff were really nice but my stay definitely wasn't enjoyable. The only good thing was the river view and the lovely staff!
