The room extremely overpriced for what it gives, Smells like It’s been smoking in it since the 90s and they can’t get the smell out, We stayed on a upgraded room and the music was so loud from the upstairs club when we inquired about this date made it sound as if it’s part of the experience, Not Pleasant at all and it keeps going until 1 am. The coffee cups don’t fit on the coffee machine, The breakfast looked like dog food and it was just as cold. The employees can’t crack a smile and they speak like they are police officers, no hospitality manners whatsoever.nSomeone needs to get this place sorted.nDon’t waste your money, you’re better on a Premier Inn
Went for a gentleman's afternoon tea. Husband ordered a pint which came within 5 minutes of ordering and I asked for a coffee and waited ages for this. The food was lovely, burger was beautifully cooked with toasted bread bun, you also got a scotch egg, a bit of quiche, portion of chips and coleslaw, it was very filling. You also got a selection of cakes. The staff were very welcoming and friendly but service was slow. Waited 35 - 40 minutes for our food to arrive and when we asked for a pot of tea we waited 15 minutes for this, and wasn't asked if we wanted any more tea or coffee during our meal. The restaurant was called The Maven which was lovely and cosy and had a nice atmosphere but disappointing about the service!!!
The staff at the reception couldn't be more polite and helpful. However, after my checkout I mentioned to a member of staff that I had used an item from the minibar which I'd be happy with them taking it out of my security deposit and later on, I was told that I have also been charged for a small bottle of Bombay Sapphire as the housekeeping team said that it was missing. I had spent most of my night out of the hotel and never noticed a bottle of bombay sapphire in the fridge in the first place, and only saw a bottle of wine that wasn't used. I spoke to the reception and was told that I'd get the extra charges refunded and will be contacted once it's done, and still haven't heard back from anyone. I spent £130.50 for one night of stay, therefore a few quid for a bottle wouldn't be an issue if I had used it. It's about charging customers for something they've not used, as anyone could have took the item.
The Vermont has a lovely, relaxing atmosphere and the staff are extremely attentive. The Vermont was only one of two hotels in Newcastle that was willing to make breakfast for me due to my food allergies and they even made me feel welcome with minimal fuss. Special thank you to Ola and Dan for going the extra mile to ensure I could eat safely. #HospitalityAtItsBest #MuchAppreciated.
Disappointing 'festive' afternoon teannWe visited for a 'festive' afternoon tea which was disappointing to say the least.nnAlthough we had booked in, we were warned there would be at least a 45 min wait on food. When it arrived, there was certainly nothing festive about it. The sandwiches were dry, with the cheese and chutney sandwich having just a small piece of cheese and non-existent chutney.nnThe scones were warm and fresh, but no cream was served. When we asked for cream, we were given a pot of whipped cream to make the cream tea.nnThe cake selection was very basic, with no attempt to make it festive at all. The cakes tasted shop bought.nnOne member of our party tried the 'Gentleman's afternoon tea' which was essentially an average burger and chips, scotch egg and plate of cakes.nnOne positive was the front of house staff, who were friendly and attentive and kept refilling our drinks.nnUnfortunately we will not be returning to The Vermont, and would not recommend it to others.
