Brixton underground station is served by the Victoria line which is the first and last stop on this line. There is disabled access from street level to the ticket hall area then escalators to the two platforms. The ticket hall area is large and wide and Brixton underground station is extremely busy with a high number of passengers all day morning and night. The station isn't great has a lot of people begging for money inside and outside the entrance also beware of pick pockets I seen drug use at this station and a few homeless sleeping on the platform and right outside. The national rail station is a two minute walk away from here.
It’s definitely one of the most busy underground stations in London south of the river Thames, but here there is a lot to offer. Even though it’s placed on a very crowded and not so well-kept high street, the station itself is kept clean as the terminus of the Victoria line, and a huge roundel on the front of the station building! Also a handy interchange with Southeastern just a 2 minute walk right from Brixton exit then just take another right.
Amazing access to the buses outside for quick way into the station, wonderful area. And when you are leaving the station in the afternoon you sometimes get to hear some music when you go up the stairs into the centre of BrixtonnnAnother good thing is that it is on the Victoria line witch has trains every 90 seconds so you get down onto the platforms and there is a train just waiting for you. Never In my life have I had to wait for a train at this station. And if you do decide to take the lifts, if you look out the window you can see the concrete of the shafts.nnThe labyrinth is located outside the lifts that take you to the platforms in the concourse
I spent the evening at the Brixton Hootenanny where the staff were great, as were the price of drinks.nBrixton itself seems to have improved massively since the 70's & 80's; it had a pleasant vibe and felt totally safe.
The largest roundel on the Underground network There is a larger one at Dalston Junction, but that's on the Overground. If you are traveling North from here If you are not, then what in the world are you doing?!, then move along to the Front North end of the train, and likely, you will be having a whole car to yourself. If you are a tube challenger, and want to double back s/b to n/b, use the corridor on the very North end of both platforms, as it is shorter. And, if your waiting for a train, admittedly you probably won't as the 36 train per hour service from here is the best on the Underground then take a look at the platform art; a humerous interpretation of 'Brixton' as 'A ton of Bricks'.
