We have been waiting for this lift to get fixed by summer, and although it says it's a wheelchair accessible when I went today, I found that out of order sign.nnPlease fix the lift. It's been broken since February 2024!
Bermondsey Station is very unreliable, it can be closed randomly due to staff shortages particularly on Friday mornings. It really puts you in jeopardy especially when you have to go to work or have an appointment, you will have to travel to the next station which costs additional time and money. I've complained many times about this to TFL but they do not care.
Functional and clean Jubilee Line station that was built as part of the east extension in the 90s. It's smart and minimal, and provides swift connection from platform to street level. Accessible as well.nnGood for reaching the eateries and funky area of Bermondsey arches, around ten minutes away by foot.
If I had a penny for each time this station failed to open on time, I was going to be a very wealthy man. This station is the definition for unreliable. And the staff is almost non-existent. Today is supposed to open at 6:30 usual open time is 5:30 but at 6:45 still not open.
Bermondsey Station is a great little stop on the Jubilee Line that’s definitely worth mentioning. While it doesn’t have the grandeur of some of London’s larger stations, it more than holds its own with efficiency, cleanliness, and location. If you’re travelling in or out of southeast London, Bermondsey is a handy and reliable station to have in your travel routine.nnFirst off, location is key. Bermondsey is perfectly situated for anyone living or working around the area. It’s close to some great spots like Maltby Street Market and the iconic Tower Bridge is just a short walk away. You can hop on the train and be at London Bridge or Canary Wharf in no time, making it ideal for commuters who want a straightforward journey without the chaos of busier stations.nnThe station itself is modern and well-maintained. It’s not massive, which is actually a plus for me because it’s easy to navigate. No endless corridors or confusing signage—you know where you’re going the moment you step inside. The platforms are bright and airy, and the station layout just makes sense, which isn’t something you can say for all London stations.nnAnother big positive is how clean it is. You can tell they take pride in keeping the place tidy. The platforms are free of litter, and the ticket hall is always well-kept. For a station that sees a fair amount of traffic, especially during peak hours, they do a fantastic job of keeping things orderly.nnThe staff, from my experience, are friendly and helpful. I’ve had a couple of occasions where I needed assistance with my Oyster card or directions, and the staff were approachable and quick to assist, which is always appreciated.nnOne minor downside is that Bermondsey can get pretty busy during rush hour. The Jubilee Line is a key route for a lot of commuters, and Bermondsey isn’t immune to the usual London crush. That said, the station is designed well enough to handle the crowds, so it never feels overwhelming. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait when exiting or getting on the escalators during peak times.nnAlso, there isn’t a ton around the station in terms of amenities like cafes or shops. While the area is definitely on the up with more popping up nearby, it’s still fairly quiet immediately around the station. So, don’t expect to grab a coffee or snack before jumping on your train unless you walk a bit further out.nnAll in all, Bermondsey Station is a solid, reliable, and clean stop on the Jubilee Line. It might not be flashy, but it gets the job done with minimal fuss. If it weren’t for the occasional rush hour crowd and lack of nearby amenities, it’d probably get that extra star. But as it stands, it’s a strong four-star station that I’m happy to use regularly.
