Clapham Junction

Very busy station with 17 platforms. Good number of kiosks selling food and drink on bridge that connects the platforms as well as a coffee kiosk on most platforms. Staff on site are usually helpful and there are lifts to each platform. Because this is a very busy station with a large number of trains from different networks connecting here it is advisable to find out what platforms you need before getting to the station otherwise it is easy to miss your connection. The bridge and tunnel connecting the platforms can often be extremely crowded especially in rush hour so allow time to get through particularly is you come in at 1 and need to get to 17!

If you like busy train stations you'll love Clapham Junction! It's got everything! Trains, platforms and so many people! What's not to love? Never been able to find a toilet though and I've been searching for hours.

Not impressed with the new queue system, which: 1. I do not believe was well advertised prior to implementation. 2. Does not provide accessible access for those with disability or dysfunction. The station does not allow entry at the bottom of the hill as it has done for all time. I was today denied entry here which meant I had to run up the hill and down the line of platforms to make my train. Being pregnant, I think it unacceptable that there is no accessibility at the bottom of the hill for those who are not easily able to circumnavigate around the station. Perhaps if I'd argued my case with the station manager at the gate but he made me feel uncomfortable with his brusque manner and I was not convinced that he would have listened anyway. He did not care to listen and was not interested, saying, "the queue system has been in place for two weeks now", as if that should have been plenty of time for me to find out. I understand that there are no lifts at the lower entrance but since it can be tiring to walk distances with certain medical long-term conditions including pregnancy, this should be factored in when not providing access at all the exits and entrances. Since I wrote this, I discovered that the situation was temporary. The 2-way system is back in place. Can't understand why they didn't allow dispensations for certain populations.

Claiming to be the busiest station in Europe, a visit here is a similar experience to finding your shoes full of cold, wet cow slurry. It is as welcoming as a 1960s British seaside resort on a wet stormy January Sunday evening. It is one of the most depressing places to have to spend any time waiting for a connecting train. The facilities are poor, very poor given the proud label of being the busiest station in Europe, our local Tescos has more urinals (3) than Clapham Junction (2). The only reason I visit this place is out of necessity to go to other places, thankfully on the majority of occasions I pass through it. The rail stations in Barcelona, Munich, Brussels, Rennes, Amsterdam are all prime examples of how our EU cousins can put Clapham Junction to shame.

Cool fact: This is the busiest train station in the UK in terms of trains. If you film during rush hour, it will be hard to pause filming due to how constant the trains are
