I love Chiltern Railways and always have done but the experience here was one to forget for being a Trainspotter but quite good for being a commuter.nnFor being a commuter, its good, services connecting you in the Oxford area and beyond. Its also easy to access the Station, as there are no Stairs so its just a short walk, and not many Platforms so not hard to find. Also a lot of barriers so makes it easier for Peak Times.nnFor Trains Seeing, its frustrating. There's 6 Platforms and a Service every decade so you're constantly waiting. I got 55 Photos / Videos in 2 hrs of me just waiting and waiting - its slightly frustrating. Don't know about others, but for me a limited service, 6 Platforms and the same train over and over again gets frustrating.nnToilet and Shop / Restaurant facilities available throughout the Station.
There is a fundamental problem with the way Marylebone station is managed. As a transport hub it can be a nightmare for travellers. Some of the platforms are distant, with trains piled up two at a time - frequently with all the accessible platforms completely empty. Trains are announced with barely five minutes notice, meaning people with luggage, young children or mobility issues frequently miss their trains. Even the able-bodied need to run for it. This is the way Marylebone has been run on a daily basis for years.
I'm not entirely sure why this train station wasn't appealing to me. Plenty stations have been renovated and redone to make it look modern and clean. I find this station looks a bit messy, small, the least appealing. I must admit it's my least favourite station in London. While waiting for my train there was a technical fault on their train timetable information on the information screen. Overall it should be renovated to make it look tidy and modern.
Lovely architecture building. Love the red colour interior inside the station. Wide open hall. Bright n airy. Cafés n some shops around for making commuters life easy. A big rack for cycle parking just inside the station. Good train service by Chiltern. Going to Birmingham, Oxford, Aylesbury n many more. A big electric board displays there for arrival n departure info. Toilets available which r not clean most of times .nEverything perfect except 2 things.nNo 1:- Busy time, big queue at ticket office but there’s 1 window open for service. Even there ticket machines but not everything u can get from those machines.nNo2:- there’s 6 platforms at this station. 2 r visible n rest of hidden. There’s just tiny board which showing 3 to 6 this way. How can I get that incase if they put that board but high so people can see that. I missed my 2 trains for looking those platforms.
Staff were looking at their phone when supposedly giving me advice but otherwise the train was on time and clean. Could do with a few more self-service ticket machines. Simple transfer between Underground and overland trains. Lovely big rack...for bikes of course and pay per use toilets onsite. Not bad.
