Excellent location-friendly international and local terminal. Many restaurants and cafes to choose from. Helpful staff to find your way around London and beyond. Coach bus, tubesubway and train services available. Pubs nearby.
I´ve been to this station a couple of times. This year, while in London, I arrived at the train station with my family and we had to wait for a couple of hours for our check-in. We saw typical situations at stations, but in general, the atmosphere was ok. We found a couple of benches where we had a quick lunch and some rest before going to our hotel. There is quite a lot of variety in terms of fast-food and services. There is an information office for those seeking for means of transport the staff is super kind and helpful, currency exchange, luggage storage, etc.
I had a conversation today with some security officers at Victoria Station. I said to them: “Do you need a massacre — ten people stabbed on public transport — before you increase security at the major stations? Why wasn’t this done earlier? Do you think that will change anything?”nnI asked one officer: “If you are off duty and riding the Underground and an attacker appears, what are you legally allowed to carry to protect yourself — a defensive spray or something that could stop someone from taking your life?” He replied that you shouldn’t run. I responded, “Do you think we’re super-humans? We can’t just jump out windows or doors — people will die because you don’t allow citizens to carry legal means of protection unless they take special self-defence courses.”nnI also asked what would happen if a civilian defended themselves and injured the attacker. He answered that it depends on the situation, but in many cases the victim defending themselves could be held responsible. That implies attackers may be detained for weeks or months and then released back into the public. What do you think about that?nnI want to ask you — as English residents — are you satisfied with how things are? I am Romanian and have lived here for 10–12 years, I pay taxes, and I believe I have the right to raise these questions. After so many years away from my home country, I feel I should have the right to ask: do you approve of the current state of security?
Busy, but clean, good variety of shops.nStopped and had a G&T at weather spoons, friendly staff. Plenty of screens to see train timetables. Only downside was a huge queue for the ladies toilets.
