I was a visitor who booked a hotel in this area and Denmark Hill was the only rail station within walking distance. I then realized that the London Overground is a totally different system from the Underground. My ignorance cost me to spend more than 4 hours from Heathrow to Denmark Hill. A hard lesson learned.
Beautiful example of an overground Victorian station. Large ticket hall with good connecting bus routes and good train links. Has lots of benches and long platforms so unless it’s really super busy it doesn’t feel too crowded. Nice local area too.
As far as stations go this is pretty! There are some funky art works and apparently a vineyard in the making. Good connections central and south east when trains are running. Helpful station staff in my experience, plus a cafe and pub on site.
The new entrance is great. But why are 2/3 of the electronic information screens dedicated to the perpetual notice that there is engineering, work or strike action and only 1/3 to information about train times. This is an utter waste of time where there is always some action affecting the railways. It means busy commuters can never access the information they need, namely, which platform there train is leaving from.
Left my phone on a train from Peckham Rye to Bromley South, a Gentleman with a lovely tan female staffie, handed it in for me to Denmark Hill! Hat's of to Dante and The Good Citizen for keeping it for me. Thank's. i owe you all a drink!
