We had afternoon tea at The Dorchester Hotel at Park lane London. The ambiance was exceptional—5/5. The setting was beautifully decorated, making it a truly luxurious experience. However, the service left much to be desired. The waitress who served us was not particularly friendly. Although she offered us champagne, which was included in the afternoon tea, she disappeared for a while afterward. When the sandwiches were brought out, she didn’t even ask us about our tea preferences. As a result, we sat for about 30 minutes without tea until I had to call her over to request it. Service was a disappointing 2/5. The food also fell short of expectations. The sandwiches were underwhelming, with the cucumber and cheese/pickle options tasting dry, as though they had been prepared hours earlier at least 5-10 hours before . At £155 per person, you would expect exceptional service and fresh, high-quality food. Unfortunately, this experience did not deliver on those fronts. While we won’t return for afternoon tea, we would consider coming back for a drink purely for the wonderful ambiance.
We've visited The Dorchester many times for tea, coffee, and breakfast, and we've always enjoyed the experience until last Saturday morning. Unfortunately, it was far from enjoyable this time. We arrived at 9 AM and asked to be seated in the lobby, the same one you're inviting people to in Social media. Despite the lobby being completely empty, the waitress refused. When we mentioned we'd like to look at the Christmas decorations, she called another staff member who escorted us out, claiming it was fully booked and we couldn't even have a quick look. It's disappointing to be treated this way, especially when the space was clearly unoccupied. This kind of service doesn't reflect the warm and festive spirit you're promoting. A truly disappointing experience from a place we've come to expect better from.
Probably one of the best hotels I've ever experienced. Immaculate rooms. Impeccable service with refined English civility. Beautiful lobby with an abundance of fresh flowers. Fantastic location as it's an easy walk to so many historical sights, shopping and dining. Best part was the people! Each and every person greeted us with a genuine smile. They all wanted to help and were excellent at anticipating our needs. I've never seen such fantastic consistency. Beautiful world class hotel. Food & drinks: The hotel's breakfast was superb! Soft boiled eggs with truffles and the best smoked salmon Benedict.
Had lunch at China Tang at The Dorchester Hotel. One of my Old Grandeur Hotels plus one of my favourite Chinese restaurant - China Tang. If you want to be spoilt by grand surroundings, good plus service The Dorchester plus China Tang has to be on your wish list. Holmes and April were pure magic in.looking after me plus my two corporate guests. Food & drinks: Amazing food at China Tang. Go treat yourself.
Had indulged in a wonderful afternoon tea with family. Being my third visit and the first time after the renovations I must say how elegant and beautiful the venue looks. The sandwiches were delectable I had a few refills of my favorites. the scones were a winner for me, fresh buttery just perfectly pairing with the clotted cream and jam. The pastries were a work of art it was all in the theme of autumn. There were a selection of teas and some were chargeable for a sum of £10. The lady who served us was rude and unfriendly, not smiling. i couldn't get the name unfortunately. However the rest of the staff were very accommodating and friendly as usual. Love the ambience always a pleasure experiencing a luxury afternoon tea at the Dorchester. Nearby activities: Right opposite Hyde park Walkability: There's footpath Food & drinks: Halal option available
I adore this place. Having been a victim of the Ritz I was unfortunate enough to accidentally be wearing the correct footwear and clothes and I was let in, urgh the Dorchester stands as a beacon. I have been here for cocktails with my husband dressed up for an evening out and we have ran in from the rain dressed in trainers and jeans to grab a couple of drinks and welcomed beautifully on all occasions. Looking forward to booking a room here in the future but will be back to enjoy some Christmas cocktails soon :.
We enjoyed a corporate event in the ballroom and it lived up to it's historic luxurious reputation, but also took a look through the lounge too. I vowed to return for afternoon tea here, it looked excellent. Nearby activities: Hyde park adjacent for escaping the city bustle Safety: A very safe area for walking around, of course always with care as in any city. There are always a few who try to exploit weaknesses in ones personal security of possessions. No city is without them. Walkability: Better to walk than use cars or taxis where you are able, or underground system. The road traffic is often heavy locally and also bad for all our health.
**5-Star Review for The Dorchester Hotel** The Dorchester is much more than just a hotel: it’s an icon of luxury hospitality. The name itself is synonymous with excellence, and my recent experience only reinforced this. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by an elegant and refined atmosphere, where every detail is meticulously cared for. The service is impeccable, with a staff that is attentive, courteous, and always ready to meet every need, making you feel pampered and important. Every request is met with speed and kindness, and nothing is left to chance. The location, in the heart of London, is simply perfect: overlooking Hyde Park, The Dorchester offers a stunning view and an ideal position for those who want to explore the city while remaining in an oasis of tranquility and luxury. The rooms are a true dream: tastefully decorated, spacious, and equipped with every comfort. The feeling of well-being is unmatched, and the attention to detail, from fine materials to the most advanced technology, makes every stay unforgettable. The Dorchester is not just a hotel; it’s an experience of pure perfection. Highly recommended for those seeking the best in service, elegance, and comfort. A name, a guarantee.
We were lucky enough to visit for a Festive Afternoon Tea on Saturday 16th and what a fabulous time we had. The decor, atmosphere and warm welcome were wonderful, every member of staff we spoke to were kind and friendly and were so helpful regarding my nut allergy. Special mention to Anwar who was an absolute delight and totally made our day.
We had the most amazing afternoon tea. Anwar was the best and made sure we had a great time. Will be back for sure.Service: 5/5
