Rooms were very small but clean. Bathroom modern but had some minor issues such as heavy rust on the shower rail. The door handle to the bathroom was also broken. The TV in the room had poor viewing quality and the free view wasn't available. The breakfast was very good, the dining area and small lounge was delightful. By far the best part of our stay was the staff. Everyone we saw and spoke to were polite, friendly and always smiling. Absolutely flawless customer service all around. They should be very very proud of themselves. Ultimately I would absolutely stay here again in the future.
Staff pleasant hence the one star. However the hotel is dated, dusty and the room was incredibly unpleasant. Would not recommend to anyone. Found the room to have either clumps of hair in the shower or some thing that appeared to be hair in the bed. Really disappointed with my experience here. In addition, the reception team should be trained to explain that charging your card is not a hold of funds but am actual withdrawal that will have to be refunded in order to get back. Overall, go to a better hotel as this was a regrettable choice despite the supposed for start rating it has. It is four stars no more I assure you. Breakfast, awful.
We had a very pleasant stay here. It’s in a great location surrounded by a few bars and pubs. The rooms are large by London standards and we found them to be clean and comfortable, if not slightly dated. The reception staff are very friendly as was the bar manager, we found ourselves sitting in the lobby bar every night chatting away and having a few drinks. The breakfast was also very good, full English and continental options were available as well as tea, coffee and juice service to your table. The one thing that marred the whole experience was the breakfast waiting staff, very unfriendly and unhelpful, looked miserable, didn’t want to assist us in anyway, made us feel like a burden.
I stayed here for a weekend in October. The hotel is dated in a tired and sad way. The sofas in the entrance way are worn and stained; I did not even want to sit on them as they did not seem clean. The reception clerks, while friendly, did not know how to properly attend to any questions or requests. Even making a reservation for dinner seemed to be a struggle for them - they instead suggested me to google the place and make it myself not having a UK sim card, this was not possible. The room I had was clean although dated again. The worst part had to be the mattress, which should have been replaced ten years ago. I had metal coils digging into my sides all night. The girl at the reception desk says she hears complaints every day, and I can see why. However, given that I had to pay upfront before seeing the room, it was impossible to changed afterwards. A positive note would be the location, which is quite central. However, given the price, I would recommend staying elsewhere.
Although only 3 stars, fantastic staff. Great breakfast. The room was clean & a comfortable bed however the room was like a wind tunnel, very tired decor throughout, although clearly in the past the wooden doors for the room furniture were solid with a worn carpet with an iron burn mark included for free A great location to hit the centre of London as the local pubs n restaurants help make it.
A real disappointment. General maintenance does not feature as part of hotel life as a result, the place is very run down and tired. When we arrived, a pipe had burst in reception so smelly water was dripping from the ceiling which you had to dodge to get to the lifts. In the room, whilst relatively clean, where the bedroom carpet met the bathroom tiles, the carpet was threadbare and wet. The staff were very pleasant, no complaints there, but not value for money and would definitely not choose to stay again. I expected a far better standard.
We booked a deluxe double. On arrival earlier than check in time, we were booked in as our room was ready. The room was tidy enough but was warn and tired. Clean and comfortable though. Unfortunately the hairdryer only worked on the low speed and the tv remote did not work. Brilliant Buffet breakfast, hot tea and coffee. Reception staff were not overly friendly but restaurant staff were very polite and courteous. Fab location very close to Hyde Park, nearest tube Hyde Park Corner.
The location really can't be beat but the rooms are indeed quite small, a renovation and update of the rooms would definitely help, and the beds leave something to be desired. Customer service is pleasant and attentive, though I think they lack an area to safely secure bags if you need then held before or after check out. When we came in there was just a pile of luggage sort of roped off by the door, but that was it. There was at least an aircon in the room and the bathroom was okay; but everything else was on the more disappointing end. The dated bedrooms could use a dusting and a fresh coat of paint. In other areas the wallpaper is starting to come away from the walls. In a quick fix this isn't a bad place if all you need is a place to lay tour head. But I wouldn't recommend it for those going on holiday from outside the city unless the trip is on a very tight budget or just a one night stop over.
I would say this is more of a 3* hotel than a 4* one. We had a pleasant enough stay but the hotel needs some tlc and there were areas that hadn’t been cleaned as well as they should have. The service was basic, as was the breakfast, and the restaurant staff had filled the salt cellars with pepper and the pepper pots with salt! When we queried it having covered a breakfast in salt instead of adding pepper we were told that’s how they do it there! Having said all the above and on a more positive note the location is great!
Good location for exploring London easy access to tubes and beautiful walks in Hyde park. Room was tired with fixtures and fittings needing attention. Breakfast was great and waiting staff very attentive and helpful. Reception staff not overly friendly a smile costs nothing.Rooms: 3/5
