China Tang
"Mayfair restaurant, China Tang at The Dorchester, is widely heralded as home to some of the finest authentic Cantonese food outside China. Located within the iconic Dorchester hotel, the Chinese restaurant has built its steadfast reputation on serving a selection of deeply comforting Chinese favourites with style and flair. China Tang bears the unmistakable fingerprint of its flamboyant creator, Sir David Tang, dressed to impress even London’s most glamorous clientele. From the low-key Art Deco entrance on Park Lane, guests descend into a subterranean world inspired by the romance of pre-war Shanghai, where quirky objets d’arts twinkle in every corner and plush banquettes and ornate paneling flank the walls."

This is arguably the best Chinese food in the whole of London. The food was legit everything and the customer service was top-notch as well. Had the best noodles here and their lamb chops was super nice as well.Food: 5/5
The Food was superb, the service was excellent as we had booked for a private dining room PING with a circular table. All booking arrangements were handled very efficiently by Holmes Lai. The table service was supervised by Tammy, John Su & Dolan in a highly professional manner with attention to detail. We had selected the full menu including the drinks one week before the event. So there was no delay in the food items to be served. The best items of food that we liked were Vegetable Spring Rolls, Deep Fried Prawn Won Ton, and Sir David’s Hot and Sour Soup. The main course was delicious including Wild Steamed Sea Bass with Chopped Chilli and Stir-Fried Fillet of Beef in Black Pepper. Stir-Fried Egg Noodles with Soya Sauce and Bean Sprouts were the best noodles I have ever tasted. Vegetarian options: Vegetable Spring Rolls Stir fried Mushroom noodles Assorted Three Musrooms. Parking: Valet parking is offered by The Dorchester Hotel on Payment. Kid-friendliness: The private dining room PING is very child friendly.
Arriving at the side door of The Dorchester in the rain to learn that you can’t access the restaurant from that side at lunch was disappointing and wet. Teaches me to be early I guess. Anyway, into the main reception and then we sat in the lobby for a bit and then on to the restaurant. A dark, retro, underground place that looks dingy and classy at the same time. It’s was a Friday lunch and we were the first to arrive. It was easy to book, and that always starts to worry me - perhaps it’s not that good. But then we ordered the food; sooo much choice, from mega expensive £70 per dish scallops to reasonable priced dim sum dishes. We had a selection of dim sums and then some rice and crispy fried beef. I say some rice; it was a wagyu with black rice dish and it was immense. And yes i ordered crispy shredded beef because at £28 i wanted, nay needed, to see whether they could elevate it beyond basic. Short answer: damn straight they can. Every dim sum was beautiful, flavourful and perfectly made. The drinks were special too. I had the herbal mocktail and it was like drinking Asian flavours. Amazing. I’ve seen comments about service, but I felt it was decent. Not star winning, but still efficient and friendly.
Exquisite meal! Always a lovely experience when being at the Dorchester hotel and a first time trying China Tang and it was worth the wait. The service was one of the highlights, waitress were very attentive. A classy restaurant and the food will be on mind for a while for how tasty some of the dishes were!
Busy and lovely restaurant on London’s Park Lane. Food is still good there and quality is mostly preserved. Service became good after making a point that we were not getting the service we’d expect at such a restaurant. While the waiter raised his voice at me while I was speaking to the manager who was very defensive and argumentative, I felt that the waiter needed more help on his section but that’s not up to me to decide. Found it very funny when the manager asked me “is it your first time here? What do you mean we usually get a better service?”… there is always a first time I guess…
A special nite out in this beautiful chinese restaurant. Peking duck with pancakes is totally recommended. The shredded beef , fried beef and prawn scallop dishes amazing.Food: 4/5
Normally not a big fan of oriental food however, this place was exceptional. Valet parking which is great considering you're in Central. The hotel is as beautiful and prestige as you can find. Service all round was excellent. Everything is quite expensive as can be expected but you probably get your worth to be fair. For our party of 3 we ordered the stir fried beef which was tender, flavoursome, juicy chunks of meat 10 out of 10! The crispy shredded beef which was tasty sweet crispy pieces but did not taste like beef at all and was a bit tough to chew at time 4/10. Szechuan chilli lamb cutlets had a strange flavour, not really chilli at all but had an odd zing left on my tongue after eating 1, not as tender as I'd hoped for, they really wasn't that pleasant at all and considering they charge nearly 50pound for for 5 cutlets 1/10. Sweet and sour king prawns were super flavourful, tangy, sweet and sticky sauce, tasty large prawns and a fairly generous serving with peppers and pineapples worked very well 10/10. We also order 2 portions of stir-fried egg noodles with soya sauce and bean sprouts - good noodles, nothing majorly interesting and also a portion of egg fried rice, again was well prepared. This was plenty of food for 3 people, we had about half a portion of noodles remaining. Overall not enough to give 5 stars but still highly recommend I very much doubt you would find a better Chinese restaurant anywhere else.
Have visited a few times to the main restaurant and private dining rooms, never disappoints. Varied delicious halal menu, attentive and cheerful staff, mocktails were lovely, both private rooms were lovely spaces to enjoy as a family with young kids. Clean &comfortable seating in the main hotel bar area.Food: 5/5
Amazing food! For sure you get high quality food served here. If you ignore the price, this restaurant is a 5/5. However, it is too expensive. This is why only 4/5.Food: 5/5
One of the most authentic Chinese restaurant in central London. The quality definitely matches the prices. All the dishes are warm, delicious and well displayed. Exactly to the level that I have in Hong Kong The only thing needs to improve is that the staff is not very familiar with the menu and the flow of putting dishes. But they are super friendly.
