Listen ignore all the bad reviews. This hotel is perfect for families. Pool open till 9! So relaxed family vibes. Rooms were clean beds so comfy. I stayed 1 nights on 31/03/24 and the women on front desk was amazing. She deserves a lot of credit for what she does. Just perfect all round. Would highly recommend for families Rooms: Comfy beds big space, balcony , clean all over Food & drinks: Breakfast was 10/10 I’d come back just for those hash browns
First time back in several years. After reading the recent reviews did not know what to expect. The Marwell did not disappoint. Lovely clean rooms, comfy bed, use of swimming pool and sauna which was much needed. Breakfast cooked fresh to order and very tasty indeed. Staff very helpful and friendly. Beautiful woodland setting and such value for money. Would definitely recommend. Rooms: Up to date decor. Clean and extremely adequate. Spacious. Nearby activities: Great location for all nearby activities as well of course Marwell zoo. Food & drinks: Great food and drink and very good value for money Noteworthy details: On site free car parking. Rooms can get quite warm, but patio doors opening to balcony
Amazing stay, lovely room for a great price. Staff amazing particularly reception, bar staff and restaurants waitress. Food was great so thanks to the chef. Would definitely stay again and check in earlier to use the leisure facilities. Setting is fantastic too.Rooms: 5/5
Stayed here for friends event locally and I cannot fathom how some people have said 'rooms are lovely and clean' then posted pictures of the bathrooms which clearly have dirt and mould in the grout! Everyone has different standards, sure... but this place makes a travelodge feel like a FourSeasons. It's had plasters stuck over amputations for what appears to be 30 years - its crazy tired, dirty and worn out. Staff were lovely, but if a lovely waiter brings you dog food at a restaurant, you don't leave the restaurant a glowing review. In need of a refurbishment about 20 years ago and cleaners given either time to clean the rooms, training or an eye test. Scum around the sinks, mould and dirt in the grout, spit and coffee down walls, grease and dirt around all light switches, old pillows with stains and towels which were in dire need of replacing. The shower curtain just needs no words... Again, staff were very pleasant and I feel sorry that they are face of something so grotty.
Beautiful hotel. Dont expect the Hilton but rural beautiful and totally relaxing. It's not expensive for food and drinks, considering hotels love to hype up prices. Room is very comfortable and I asked for a little surprise for my new husband and was more than surprised by a handwritten card from the staff. Lovely stay.
Room was cold. Radiator did not work and it's all a bit old inside. Shower was poor. Staff brought up a plug in Radiator as a temp measure. Lovely staff who tried their best. Bar area looked nice. Corridors between bar and to rooms is all glass and so cold you can see your breath as you walked. We also got booked into a room upstairs when we had a dog and a pram with baby in. Making things a bit tough. Certainly needs a clean and an uplift everywhere. Great location next to the zoo. But probably would stay elsewhere in future. Not the staff fault as said. Very friendly
Hotel in need of much updating and refurbishing. Hotel rooms are basic and have cracked tiles, stained carpets and wooden fixtures that are dated. We stayed in room 301, and the bath started filling full of water from the plug hole. The water was dirty and unclean. We were moved to Room 304, which was better but still had carpet defects. This is a family hotel, so lots of children running around and noise early and late. Swimming pool was nice. Staff were friendly but will not stay here again. Cheap prices reflect your hotel and room.
Great location within a beautiful setting; sadly there was a lack of cleanliness in the room! The bathroom wasn’t the cleanest, hairs dotted all around. One of our pillow cases was also dirty with a dark smear! Not incredibly impressed however overall pleasant experienceRooms: 4/5
Great hotel and great staff with an amazing cooked breakfast in the morning. Rooms were very hot so it felt a little warm. Pool and sauna were free and could be used all day.
I stayed at this hotel evening of 02 Mar 24. It was found to be of very poor standard. The mattress was in poor condition, with large dips and springs poking into us. No mattress protector is used. One of the pillow cases had hair and make up on it from previous client. We were only provided with 1 towel. The room smelt musty. The bathroom did not appear clean. The shower curtain was yellow and stained. The sealant around the sink was mouldy. The room was connected to the room next door by a thin wooden door which resulted in us being able to hear our neighbours conversations, sex, mattress springs when they moved, and when they went to the toilet. One of the lampshades were hanging off. The carpet was worn and stained. It was an unpleasant stay and we both struggled to sleep and had back backs from the tired mattresses. We would not stay here again. Bar was pricey. Staff were nice.
