We stayed for 2 nights at the Kings Head. The room was very clean, and well presented, with a comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a TV, and a decent sized bathroom, with a bath and a shower. We had small problem with the sink not emptying, but it didn’t spoil our experience. We had the full cooked breakfast both mornings, and took advantage of the 25% discount on the Wednesday evening meal. The eating area was pleasantly furnished and decorated, the staff were friendly, and the food was good. Overall the Kings Head is a friendly and welcoming pub, with a nice ambience in the bar. We would definitely stay again if visiting the area.
Best Sunday roast we have had so far in Hampshire. Beef and pork were both very good and vegetables were seasonal and well cooked. Pub feels modern with a good selection of beers and wine list. Very happy with the service. Looked after us after a decent hike to get thereService: 5/5
Lovely lunch, it took ages to order as we couldn't decide which of the delicious options on the menu to go for! This is a really nice old-style pub located in a very pretty village, staff are efficient but very welcoming. Parking is generous and the pub is dog-friendly which is a huge bonus. Although some distance from me, the Kings Head Hurseley has become my "go-to" place for a rendez-vous and I would thoroughly recommend it
Stayed the night to celebrate my birthday on Saturday. As soon as you walk in your greeted by fresh flowers everywhere nice touch and a warm welcome. Very attractive bar area and snug, perfect for watching the rugby! Our room was huge, with all amenities you need plus a beautiful roll top bath and huge shower if you prefer. Dinner was excellent, it's a beautiful room to dine in. Note to the guy who made my expresso martini - wow! Definitely would recommend this pub.
Lovely hotel, with very decent sized rooms. Good range of beers, friendly staff. The food is good, with different options and freshly made, breakfast is again freshly made as well. Rooms: There are 8 Boutique rooms. Food & drinks: Good options to suit all.
We came for our Christmas works do and hired the downstairs room with skittle alley. The food was delicious, the staff were great and very attentive. Sam was a lovely member of staff who couldn’t do enough for us and also a younger bar maid who was very helpful and cheery! We all had a great time and would love to come back next year! Would appreciate Malibu on the bar menu and also some new darts! Was a great night! Food & drinks: Great food
What a lovely friendly comfortable stay we had at The Kings Head. The room was warm and located to the front of the building with a pretty view of the church opposite. The evening meal was delicious and hot, with a speedy Friendly smile from our waitess. We liked that we had fresh milk in a flask for our room.. No continental breakfast available, but an excellent choice for hot cooked breakfasts to set you on your way. Well done Adam, you have a wonderful team.
I am not one who normally leaves a review but on this occasion we found the experience to be wholly underwhelming and a massive disappointment. It’s a great pub in a great location but they really do need to step up their game. There were 8 of us for a birthday celebration dinner on Saturday night. The general ambience of the pub is great but goes down hill in the restaurant and needs some background music. There appear to be enough staff who are pleasant enough but don’t seem to have the experience or confidence. Most of the options we would have selected on the menu were not available which left us with a very restricted choice. I noticed a previous response about all the ingredients being fresh - well they couldn’t even do chips so someone really needs to work on the sourcing and stocking of supplies. The bread and Olives for 7.95 was a French stick you could get in any supermarket and the balsamic was more like malt vinegar. The food took almost an hour to come and people on other tables next to us were walking out as the service took so long. We persevered , but when the food came I’m not sure we should have. We didn’t get value for money, it was expensive and pretty shoddy and none of us would go back which is a shame as we ate there a couple of months ago and had recommended it. We paid the bill without complaining but left without even considering desserts or coffees…
Had lunch here one Saturday, three of us, with three dogs. Staff were exceptionally welcoming and professional. Seated at tables at the back of the bar rather than in the restaurant. The food was brilliant and well executed - three starters all great and the mushrooms on sourdough and two Korean chicken burgers as mains. Lovely pint of Butcombe Original as well. Top marks all around.
The meal we had was really delicious, very hot and good sized portions. The service was quite slow considering it was not busy in the pub and the staff seemed unaware that the booking on their website takes a deposit for groups over 6 which caused slight confusion when paying however they were all very polite and sorted it out with no issue.
