Nestled around the backstreet in a glorious old building , the Winchester Royal Hotel is truly fine way to experience your stay in the City.nnWhist it is not clear what warrants a feature room and it certainly does not match the marketing images. I can only assume feature rooms are in the original building and have slightly more authentic decor. We stayed in a feature room, which was large and airy, but no garden view and small bathroom. And also had some dubious plastic blue chandeliers! WiFi was not great and there are no lifts.nnAll said and done, despite being a little disappointed with the room not being as grand as the photos. The staff were always very friendly and there if you needed them. The room had everything we needed and was always warm.nnWe also had afternoon tea, which was splendid and excellent value . Even better with Groupon voucher.nnOverall a lovely stay, a few minutes walk from town . Rooms obviously vary, so ask for what you want and keep in mind no lifts to upper floor.
Very nice Hotel. Quaint room. Good TVs...we had two synced to each other in lounge to bedroom area.nConvenient phone charging pad.nNice garden view. See photonGreat breakfast nicely presented. I particularly like the hot plate cupboard....nothing worse than a cold plate with fried eggs.nI would/will definitely stay again .
A historic hotel set in a beautiful old building with a long history. It is located right in the heart of Winchester, with everything within easy walking distance. Winchester train station is around a 7–8 minute walk away, which makes the location very convenient.nnThe hotel itself is lovely and very well maintained. Despite being a historic building, the rooms feel refreshed and well looked after, and they were spotlessly clean. The rooms are well equipped with everything you might need. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful throughout my stay.nnThere is an open buffet breakfast available in the mornings, and for an additional charge the hotel also has a very nice restaurant serving traditional British and pub style dishes. The garden restaurant area is particularly pleasant.nnI stayed here for work and found it to be calm and comfortable, with fast internet that allowed me to work and attend online meetings without any issues. I was also travelling with my dog, and I was really pleased to find a dog bed, water bowl and even a small treat waiting in the room, which made a big difference for me.nnI would happily stay here again and it would definitely be my first choice if I return to Winchester.
The clear choice for a stay in Winchester.nThe Hotel is beautiful, and situated in the heart of Winchester Close to the shops, restaurants, Cathedral and Cinema. The staff are attentative and clearly enjoy what they do as they are always smiling, polite and happy to help. I felt relaxed and at home here. The rooms offer all you need, tea and coffee are provided as well as towels, shampoo & body wash.nIt would be nice to have two pillows per person but not essential.nThe line is cotton and of a high standard.nnIn the Garden rooms you can open the windows there is a catch so they only open partially but it's enough to get some fresh air and not feel boxed innnParking is an extra but is not over priced and the carpark is secure although not very well sign posted. A sign from the upper car park to reception would be very helpful also.nnThe hotel and rooms are spotlessly clean, this includes the carpeting.nBreakfast has a great selection and the coffee is excellent.nThe house keepers are diligent and respectful and the bar staff are professional and good fun!nnOverall a fantastic stay, I would highly recommend.nThank you to the staff for making such a difference.
Great value hotel. Lovely staff, solid breakfast. Garden rooms are the most clean and fresh. Basic but comfortable. Older ones in the main building a bit more crusty. But all in all, very well priced and homely. Tremendous location
