Unfortunately you can’t give it no stars, but if I have to give it one star, then this star goes to the comfortable bed...only the bed. There are many points that I’ve listed below that would make me avoid this hotel again. Point1. Parking is a nightmare! There isn’t enough parking for guests and the spaces are so small you almost need to clamber out of the boot to exit the vehicle. Once parked though, the next shocker is the £12 per night additional charge. One would expect this to be included as a guest of the hotel. Point2: the rooms are so small you’d struggle if you had more than an over night bag.(see pic) Point3: the decor is very old - not too bad if you like “granny Mavis’ house” Point4: my room’s interior “finish”, wasn’t. The wall between the bedroom and the bathroom was a plywood panel with one coat of paint and held onto the other walls with masking tape.(see pics) Point5: The carpet in the bedroom was so warn you can see the string under the pile. For a hotel of this apparent “caliber”, I’d have expected the carpet be clean and neat. Point6: The bathrooms extractor fan port isn’t connected to an extraction pipe, so the moisture extracts into the void between the ceiling and floor above. The port also does not have a fan, so a hot shower or bath allows a lot of moisture to build up inside the bathroom causing mould to form. (See pics) Point7: The hotel is situated across from a cathedral, so if your a fan of bell ringing, your in for a treat, unfortunately bell ringing practice continues well after 21:30 in the evening. So don’t expect an early evening. Point8: the food at breakfast, which came at quite and additional charge, although very tasty, was literally floating in oil. What I can say positively about the hotel is that it’s perfectly situated for a wander down the little streets of Winchester - and quite a cute town it is. I was very sad that a hotel which claims a high rating, was so bad. I cannot recommend this hotel and I certainly will not stay there again.

This hotel was our last stop having cycled the South Downs Way from Eastbourne. On arrival the staff were extremely helpful and stored the bicycles away securely. My bedroom was large with a huge bed and good views to the Cathedral. The decoration was a little tired but a deep hot bath was really appreciated. Excellent access to the town enabled us to find a good restaurant and return for an undisturbed nights sleep. A large breakfast was provided the following morning and the bicycles returned safely.

The staff are very friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble. The food is very nice and the beer is well looked after. The rooms are of good size and clean the beds are comfortable with everything in your room available to cater for your needs. I've come here on business but wouldn't hesitate to stop here if for personal visits

Very centra,l opposite the cathedral. Clean and friendly hotel. Only little thing I can moan about is that the reception rooms were on the chilly side.we stayed in December so did notice the chill. In the bedroom their was a heater which we did use. The food was fine so all in all a good stay

Basic, but great location, parking can be a pain so arrive early if you're driving. Breakfast is a rip off but you're so close to town it's criminal not to walk to a nice cafe for breakfast. In a word. Functional.
