The Westgate

Good Rooms as you come in but however the cleaners do not observe very well while cleaning. Food wait is awful as me and my family waited 1 HOUR for our breakfast. Bathrooms are nice and there is nothing wrong that. Staff are nice. Car Parking was a struggle to find. Stairs are very steep so I would recommend getting a lift. Overall it was OK

The Westgate is a combination pub and hotel. The location is right in the city center not far from shops, as well as the bus and train stations. Our room was exactly what you'd expect from a hotel. A bed and a bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and warm. The room was kept clean was nice. Breakfast is included in the price of the room, and the breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. They allowed us to store our luggage there even though we were too early to check in. They also gave us good recommendations when we asked about where to buy certain items. Overall I recommend the Westgate for anyone staying in Winchester.

Booked.a table for three of us to watch the last day of the Six Nations Rugby. As requested, our table was in good view of the television and that atmosphere was great. Add to that some good local beers and good food, it was a great afternoon out for us.

Stayed at The Westgate last night with my wife, for just one night... Warm welcome and nice atmosphere on arrival. We had lunch in the bar... Couple of sandwiches and some chips. waited over half an hour before asking what had happened .. The food had been waiting in a service hatch for ages. Our room (5} was not great... It was very warm which isn't a problem for some, but having turned the radiator down from full, I opened a sash window to get some fresh air.. It was broken so had to wedge open. The carpet had so many stains. The shower head needed descaling... The mirror tray was very loose and could easily have fallen.. The whole place just needed a good clean and attention.. That said the bed was lovely. I told the person of these issues when checking out this morning... She knew the room and apologised for the issues and said she would pass my comments on. No compensation was offered I paid and left. Overpriced. Should be closer to 80£ b+b.. . Won't be returning

Quirky hotel rooms and friendly staff make this hotel a nice option for a stay in this historic city. Just lost a star for cleanliness due to a few missed hard to reach areas in the room I stayed in.
