My husband and I have just returned from our short break today and cannot fault our time at the Leonardo Hotel. We had received vouchers for our 40th wedding anniversary and were upgraded to a superior room on arrival. The reception staff were lovely and helpful. All staff at breakfast time were extremely hardworking but cheerful to all guests The choice at breakfast was excellent. We had a few drinks in the bar and once again the staff were lovely and the bar prices were reasonable.nThe hotel was perfectly situated for the train station walking about the town and quayside
Stayed there as part of a Shearings cache tour. The room was very tired however, the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was not as clean as it could have been.nOur meals were not a la carte which is to be expected but what we had was minimal and the vegetables served on our plate were singed as though they had been cooked via a blow torch.nThe front of house manager had to double up as a porter and restaurant staff. And, although we'd paid for porterage on the last day, none was available.nThe few staff that were there did their best but it was shaken at best.nThe breakfasts were decent though. I couldn't slate them. They were as expected.
I had messaged the hotel directly, giving them the opportunity and right ti reply, but I received and auto response acknowledging my complaint and concern.nnWhen I arrived into my room the window broken. It was sealed with sellotape and being on a high floor it was cold especially when travelling from London. I called immediately, and there were no room available, i was told I had to deal with it for a night and they would change the room the next day, but I was only there for two nights. There was also dirty tissue in the bins which had not been cleaned. That was emptied immediately.nnI asked for a portable heater as it was cold. They didn’t haven’t one. I spent the night cold, shivering.nnI would not recommend this hotel to anyone. And to be clear this is not feedback on staff. From my encounters they were all lovely even though they couldn’t address my issue and resolve.
Stayed here for a rugby tournament weekend.nnLocation was perfect for our group.nnStaff were very friendly and efficient at check in and breakfast in mornings.nnFood at breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice .nnThe room we was in was clean, but starting to look very dated. I believe the hotel is under going refurbishment. So would definitely came back in the future.nnWould recommend.
Paul the duty manager and his team were excellent. The hotel was extremely busy, especially the bar when we arrived and you could see the bar staff were under pressure, however they coped really well. All in all a good stay. Will certainly be using the hotel again and alway recommend it to my friends, as the location is perfect when using the train or the carpark across the street.
