A basic hotel. The hotel has all the key amenities. A great location which worked well in our favour as we were needing to jump on the tube a lot. It has a decent bed, which was remade each morning - it looked very smart. The bathroom was decent too, a nice rainfall shower head along with a normal one too. In the bathroom they supplied body wash, shampoo and conditioner with fresh towels each day. The wash and shampoos were really good! The downfalls for this hotel was that as we were on the bottom floor we could hear everyone passing through the corridor, which disrupted our sleep. They also had a fire alarm go off in the morning of our final day which was not great. Overall a decent hotel, it does what you need but it’s nothing exuberant.
Loved this hotel. Located in a great place to walk all over or catch a hop on hop off or city bus. Excellent restaurants just around the corner. Friendly staff and excellent concierge. Nice rooms but starting to show their age in the furniture and carpet. Glad to have a private bathroom even though it was tiny. Rooms: Clean and nice but showing their age. We stayed in the rooms across the street, so maybe main ones were more updated. Tiny bathroom. Nearby activities: Paddington station very near. Excellent restaurants of varying ethnicities and price ranges just around the corner. Longish walk to zoo, but so worth it. Walkability: Easy walk to many different bus stops and to Paddington station. Food & drinks: Great restaurants near by. Breakfast available in hotel for extra fee.
There must be a different star rating system in London. Or for this hotel. This deserves a 2 star rating. No more and maybe even less. The room we got had a full size bed, hard and lumpy mattress. White clean sheets, but carpet is green and old, musty and dirty. The shower did not drain, it instead pooled at your feet. Happy we thought of taking flip flops because we used them in the shower and in the room. The phone on the room, did not work. You could hear doors opening elsewhere and the toilet in another room being flushed and water coming down the pipes. The light fixtures had a mind of their own. Would not turn on when switched on. Only thing that was acceptable, the shampoo smelled nice. The lobby wreaked of smoke. Rooms being small is not a big deal, if they are clean, quiet, minimal. The rack in the wardrobe did not work and fell every time you opened the door to it. The wood round the room looked as if it had been eaten by a rodent. When I asked the reception staff why the hotel was rated as a 4 star, they told me it’s because they have a very small gym. No restaurant. A bar that empty and in plain sight. If this hotel did not have a restaurant, a gym, it would not matter. 4 stars should ensure a level of cleanliness, some basic updates. A working shower drain. We moved to another 4 star hotel, Xenia. Similar size room, but clean. Updated. Much better smelling. A nice lobby.
Just checked out- had a great stay. All the staff was extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. They let us check in early which was much needed after a red eye flight. Yes, rooms are small but they are clean and beds were comfortable. Hot shower with good pressure. Would recommend for a quick stay 1-3 nights. Safe location and a quick walk to Paddington station.
PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING!! My boyfriend and I arrived at this hotel at 10pm after a long day of travelling and despite full payment weeks in advance we were told no room was available for us. We had no prior contact until arrival and we were given the excuse of “maintenance” issues. This caused us great inconvenience but it was also extremely poorly handled. Staff were SO rude and dismissive. We were not the only customers to be dealing with issues. An upgraded room in their sister hotel was promised however not only was the upgrade provided when we arrived at sister hotel, we were then told my partner and I had to stay separately IN TWO SINGLE ROOMS!!!! Following an hour of discussion they “found” a double room...but it was disgusting with a broken shower, broken window and FLY INFESTED!!! Absolutely outrageous customer service. Not one manager or supervisor working the 3 days we were there!!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE.
Starting with the good: -Hotel is in a decent location 2 train stations paddington&underground, buses transport all close by. -Walking distance to Hyde Park -Room was clean with everything you could need fridge, kettle, showers, TV etc -Not bad for us, but the rooms are small, think more a Airbnb/rented living room turned into a bedroom than a hotel room. This was fine for us, but just understand that when booking. This hotel provided a good base for what we needed and came at a decent price range. The bad: -To start, the hotel is not 1 building, our room was actually over the road. On google this shows as a similar name as the hotel but not the same, i believe this is done to hide the fact its all one hotel in separate buildings. This isnt necessarily bad, but is hidden from customers so far as i could see which i think is done on purpose. -The bed was horrible, the mattress was old and had sank in the middle. We had a terrible sleep as we both kept rolling into the middle of the bed. Not good enough for any hotel. Mattress’ should be regularly changed. - When we checked in we signed a document for 1 room was too early to actually go into the room, we was then moved to another room when we returned later. I asked for this to be changed on the paperwork as this was no longer our room. This evolved into a heated discussion from the check in person that the paper is irrelevant as the “system” is updated. So why use the paper to begin with? After a back and forth he finally gave us the original paper back that we had signed and made us sign a new one with the new room. Why couldn’t this have just been done from the start? -The hotel looks old in places, it could do with a lick of paint and just some TLC. Its not dirty, its just not fresh either. A bit of paint and a touch up in places is really simple and for me is the basis of the difference between a good and a bad hotel. Other: There was a restaurant, we didn’t use this so i couldn’t comment on it. Overall: Its not bad, its not great. If you just want a place to put your head down in paddington the location is absolutely fine. However for the price point i believe you could get a better hotel with an actual comfortable bed. The bed was just unacceptable. Its a hotel, its made for sleeping. The check in process also left a sour taste in my mouth, it started our day off on a bad foot. If you check in early so you dont need to do it later, why swap my room and make me do it again later?
PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING!! My boyfriend and I arrived at this hotel after a long day of travelling and a delayed flight at 11:00pm to be turned away with no prior contact to let us know. The excuse the receptionist gave was “maintenance” issues that we were not informed about. This has cause us great inconvenience on our trip and has been handled extremely poorly beginning our trip with an awful start with unpleasant staff. We were one of many tourists dealing with this issue resulting in an upsetting atmosphere and we still haven’t offered any compensation. We are still currently on our way to a new property at 11:30 in the night.
Nothing grand about this place We had to make a relatively last minute reservation to  stay close to Paddington station. While the reviews for this hotel were not stellar, we imagined it couldn't be that bad. We were wrong. 200 British Pounds per night got us what could simply be considered a dungeon. The bad: - A microscopic room populated with two single beds, forced into a very small space see picture - An impossibly hot room. 53 F degrees outside and no windows. The air conditioner did not work. - A tiny bathroom that while it looked recently updated, had no functional shower. Fully opened it was barely enough of a drip to get wet. See picture - There is a significant issue with hot water supply. Cold water runs fine, but hot water is a trickle. See video - The beds had no fitted sheets. We found ourselves sleeping on a bare mattress after tossing around a couple times during sleep. I've never seen this before in a hotel. See picture - The long hallways leading to our dungeon room had a strong odor of urine The good: - Relatively close to Paddington train station - They provided three bottles of water in our room - There is an excellent Espresso coffee shop across the street La Costa Trust the reviews and avoid this property at all cost.
The location seems to be a good one, however, the accommodations were definitely a bad fit for my wife and I and our young daughter. The room is quite small, we got the top floor which has an attic kind of feel, the ceilings are lower and one wall is inclined towards the inside, with very small windows. The restroom is very small too, no place to put anything. The building’s hallways are very narrow, even the elevator is shaky - overall a sense of claustrophobia. The AC in the room seems to be struggling quite a bit, we had to open the windows. Also, the description of this “Confort Triple room” in Booking says it has 3 twin beds and the photo shows them arranged like a king/queen plus a separate twin bed but there’s only one large bed and an individual sofa bed which is in very bad condition and has no linens. We called the front desk and asked for some linens for it and didn’t get any. I could keep going but in short, my recommendation is to stay somewhere else. *Updated with a good rating for Service, since, after discussing our issues with the front desk staff, they sent someone to look at the AC, provided a tower fan since the AC couldn’t be fixed, provided linens for the sofa bed, and some complimentary snacks for our troubles.
I saw ratings on booking.com and pictures of the room and then booked my stay at the hotel. The rooms are very small. There is no place to keep a suitcase even. It is a pigeon house in true sense. The staff trya to offer you room on the first, second floor with no lift. You carry your suitcase up the stairs by your self. My worse decision of staying here at Park Grand Paddington London. Never ever will I recommend anyone to stay here. Rooms: Small cluttered room that ends before it starts. No place to keep stuff.
