Purchased a voucher from Wowcher for ice cream afternoon tea with bottle of champagne. Was a treat for a friend’s birthday and made a trip to London especially. Booking was via email so they were aware it was for ice cream afternoon tea. When we arrived we were the only ones in the restaurant and was told that we were getting the traditional afternoon tea instead. Not very happy as whole reason for going was for ice cream afternoon tea. We got our bottle of champagne and when the afternoon tea arrived there was NO clotted cream. When asked we were told there wasn’t any. All of their photos show clotted cream. Traditional afternoon tea without clotted cream- unforgivable! We had to request butter instead to put on the scones. Positives- hotel was clean, staff polite and friendly. It was a shame they didn’t deliver what was expected as will now not return due to being unreliable.
Had a confirmed booking through agency and reconfirmed it over phone. Upon arrival the already terribly slow receptionist said I should go around the corner to their sister hotel, apparently the hotel I booked had maintanence issues. When I arrived at sister hotel they basically said they didn’t have a room for me. No help in finding another solution this is 8pm. Very very unreliable - definitely stay away!!! I ended up paying double in another hotel in the area
An absolute horror! We had booked three rooms at the same rate, one for two people and two for a single person. Upon arrival, we were assigned a basement room less than 2 meters wide by 3 meters long, another on the upper floor of the same size, and a third that might have seemed acceptable if the price wasn't so high. The staff clearly told us that if it didn't suit us, we could leave, adopting an unpleasant tone and condescending attitude. Consequently, we were forced to cancel our reservation, resulting in the loss of the equivalent of one night's rate for the three rooms. This hotel is an absolute place to avoid! Finally, the reservation was made through Booking, which, despite our efforts, was of no help in recovering the equivalent of €1000.
Went here using a voucher for afternoon Tea. This is a short walk from Lancaster Gate Tube Station. Be aware there is another Park Grand Hotel a stones throw away, but no great deal. The staff were very pleasant and the afternoon tea was very nice with finger sandwiches, scones, cakes. Our waiter very pleasant and offered to take photo. The room was traditional but very modern, I know that does not make sense, all very clean. We have had a few afternoon teas and this was nice.
We had tried to book the Indian selection tea as a special treat. However, after numerous attempts, we had to give up because the voice message inbox was full. Emails and What's App messages also went unanswered. We decided to go to the hotel and see if we could find a place -which fortunately we did. However, because we had been unable to book ahead, we couldn't have the Indian selection. When we asked about the price of the tea, we were told it was the same price with or without a glass of prosecco huh? As for the food, we had a "normal" cream tea with possibly the smallest scones I have ever seen. The tea was weak and limited to one pot. The sandwiches and cakes were adequate and no more. When we raised the issue of the lack of response at reception, they gave the impression that it was not anything they were going to rectify in the immediate future. There are other options for high tea in London, and they give better value and better service.
The man who served us at the restaurant this morning was very helpful and patient with us. There are imperfections in the hotel, but the staff do their best to take care of their guests. This makes all the difference. It was a lovely stay in a brilliant location. Walkability: Very close to Hyde Park and Paddington. A nice walk.
Awful experience here! We asked to be moved to a room with 2 beds after discovering their "king" beds can't be split. They moved us to a room downstairs at an increased price. The room was slightly below ground level so I expressed concern at the windows being open and it being a safety concern. I was assured that the windows could not be opened. This was a lie. The next day our room stank so much of cigarettes it prompted our investigation to discover that the windows open and open wide enough for someone to enter. The staff use the alley outside our bedroom window to smoke cigarettes. In addition to our safety concerns, they placed us in a room directly below the dining room and the sounds of people dragging chairs across the floor began at 0630 and continued to 1030 without stopping. It was so loud it was impossible to sleep. I raised my concerns with staff who gave me the manager's email, who didn't even reply to me. Also the building next door is under construction and the noise starts at 0700 and it's awful. Do not stay here. There are a million better hotels in London that will actually show you respect. Safety: Very unsafe rooms, anyone could open our windows from the outside and come in. Staff lied to us about this.
Room 810 in the basement should have been priced at £30-40 not £135 You can hear the district line running underground every 5 mins the noise from the upstairs shower & pipes sound like it's in the room. 3 light switches don't work so a ceiling light by the door stays on. Breakfast is in the basement of the hotel round the corner nothing like the pictures on the website. The problem with the whole Hotel industry is price fixing by large booking corporate firms like Expedia. Rooms should be priced on value alone. Rooms: You can touch both walls
I honestly had such high expectations for this hotel, being that it is advertised as a 4 star hotel. The whole experience fell short of what I would expect of a 4 star hotel especially at the rate they are charging. To start: I walk into the hotel and was greeted with a frown, I asked the woman at the desk how her day was and she said “Busy” no regard for how my day was, where I was coming from etc. I had arrived early and was told that they were unable to do early check ins. No problem, I understand. They did offer to hold my bag which was nice. I arrive back at 1:30 and ask if there is somewhere I can sit. There was no waiting room because it was holding all of the bags. I go sit in the dining room to have some coffee and nobody greets me at all. I sit there for 15 mins while a waiter walks back and forth ignoring me. I go up to the bar area and ask if there is a menu or how it works. “There is no menu, our kitchen is closed, the bar is open” I get into my room and not a minute later a housekeeper barges in no knock sees me, says “sorry” and runs back out. In addition, I was told my bags would be brought up to my room. I waited 30 minutes until I just went down and got it myself because it was not worth the time waiting and when I asked to retrieve the bags only one was brought out and I had to go and point the other one out. This hotel definitely has no regard for customer service or for making their guests feel valued. The interior of the hotel is also subpar compared to how it is depicted in the pictures. 100% would not recommend. Rooms: Rooms are not as nice as the pictures depicting them, the hotel is very loud and the floors between are not insulated so you can hear everything.
I've been in the service and hotel industry for more than 10 years and I never experienced such a bad customer service at the reception. The receptionist was rude, not interested in her job, never smiling.I asked her if she could make a dinner reservation for us, she told me I could do it by myself.Unbelievable. Maybe she should look for a new job. Also the rooms are old and noisy. We got woken up at 4am because in the hallway there were some discussions between service staff from the hotel and guests. I will never come back here again and do not recommend it.
