Very nice Hotel with a cool history. The beds were really comfortable and the location is very central without being in a really busy part. The hotel has a cool retro vibe to it. Also everything is clean and tidy. The only thing I could complain that the shower is on the older side which can be hard to deal with if you are not use too. But I would definitely come back here again : Walkability: Multiple Tube stations are just a few minutes away and you are very central but not in the busy part
My experience at The Columbia Hotel was excellent. the hotel was clean as the room, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Additionally, the lobby and bar area were stunning and spacious, offering a great place to relax. The hotel’s location is also ideal. I highly recommend this hotel for a comfortable and enjoyable stay!
Definitely returning to this hotel if we are visiting London! Location was excellent, 5 minutes walk to Kensington Park and only 10 minutes to the tube. We drove from the Midlands so in terms of traffic was minimal due to the location. When we entered the hotel there were marble flooring, beautiful decor, everything including the lifts were classy. The receptionist was very accommodating, kind and professional. We booked parking but it took a while for them to let us in and as a result we got it for free. The breakfast was also lovely, mostly pastries, toast, cereal. The options were not huge but tasted good. The rooms were classy, and comfortable, only negative I can think of is that the bathroom is very dated and the hallway has an old smell but it's expected from an old building.
Really enjoyed our stay at the Columbia. Great location with good underground and overground connections for a good reasonable price. Rooms are just as advertised, with an amazing daily cleaning service. All staff are really nice and welcoming.Rooms: 5/5
We have stayed here several times now. I love the location, retro bathrooms, building, staff, decor and cleanliness. The hotel has character, charm and musical history which keeps us coming back. The value is unbeatable for the area too. I hope it doesn’t change.
We couple, no kids liked the location and overall look of the building inside and out. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are small and the walls are thin as we could hear our neighbor snoring at night and then the cleaners' every move/word the next morning. It's a decent budget choice but I would stay elsewhere next time.
I was there in October I stayed only for one night but definitely I will come back again! Clean and cozy rooms in love with the vintage decor The staff were so friendly especially Pavel and Ajda thanks a lot Rooms: 5/5
I travel to London frequently and have a list of hotels that are my preferred places for £156 or under. I have added this hotel to that list. The hotel is about 5 minutes' walk to Lancaster Gate underground station Central Line. There is also a bus stop outside the hotel for a bus into Piccadilly number 94. Hyde Park is across the street. Restaurants are about 5 - 10 minutes walk. My room was a triple, with a double and a single bed and a large two-seater sofa. There was an ensuite shower over bath and a large cupboard. The room was big and I would think plenty of room even for three with luggage see photos. The only thing I struggled with was the height of the showerhead. It is quite low, about neck height, and I am 5' 7". Breakfast was a help yourself continental. If you are looking at booking breakfast through Hotels, Expedia, or the like, breakfast booked at the hotel on the day is only £10 per person. Hotels.com wanted to charge me £14. Staff were great, friendly, and helpful. The hotel is having a bit of a refurbishment and looks good. The building is impressive with high ceilings and looks quite grand. As a thing to look for, the lift indicator on the ground floor is an old-fashioned mechanical arrow indicator.
The halls are confusing with multiple closed doors to walk through. There were maintenance men in middle of halls in the celing on ladders making them almost impossible to pass with luggage. The rooms have no air conditioning and only a small portable fan. Bathrooms are very outdated and dingy. We were denied our room an hour and a half early, but we noticed others being allowed to check in 30 minutes later so we got back in line and we were able to get our room. After the struggle to get to our room as a family of 4 and having to leave luggage in the hall because of ladders the staff refused to reimburse us when we had to leave because of our room being 84 degrees and the hassle of construction. The outside of the building and location is amazing but interior is horrible and staff is rude.
I was hesitant at first to stay here because of the mixed reviews but I am so glad my husband and I did! First off, Alison the reservations manager got right back to me via email. Secondly, when we arrived ten in the morning, the very kind clerk at the front desk was able to check us in early. We had taken an overnight flight and were exhausted. Third, our room was spacious, clean, quiet, and overlooked a quaint church. The breakfast was only ten pounds each and was perfect for me freshly baked croissant, banana, bowl of muesli and cup of coffee. The sitting area was nicely decorated with plush chairs and sofas, an abundance of healthy plants, and very cool and contemporary oils on canvas hung from the walls. Lastly, each employee we encountered were always so helpful giving us suggestions and directions! I highly recommend this hotel which is literally across the street from the gorgeous Hyde Park. Also the tube stop Lancaster Gate is a short walking distance and Paddington Station too was maybe a 15 minute walk. Overall, the Columbia Hotel is an affordable place to stay with impeccable service. When we return to London, we are staying here!!! :
