The room was clean but poorly decorated and shabby. No WiFi and no working television. The buffet breakfast was not good value for money. Needs full refurbishment and a better cook. Great location on the seafront, though.Rooms: 1/5
What a lovely stay. I booked this hotel and then read the reviews, and I must admit I was so worried. I came to Eastbourne for work, and stayed for 2 nights. I was given room 204, after requesting a sea view, as I love falling asleep to the sound of the sea. The room was large, with 2 large windows looking out to sea. And it was spotless. There was no bath tub but a very powerful shower in the cubical, and you need a good strong shower pressure to wake up each morning. I slept like a baby for 2 nights as the bed was so comfortable. I managed to get breakfast one morning as my work start times were very early. Breakfast was very good, and there was a good choice. All the staff at the hotel were so welcoming, friendly, and so helpful. I am very well travelled and this hotel did not disappoint. I have no idea how this hotel has such bad reviews. Yes it is a little tired in the communal spaces, but not offensively. I told everyone I was working with how lovely it was, and I will definitely be booking room 204 again, but this time for pleasure not business
We had a huge sea view room with a huge bathroom and a coffee pod machine. Very clean and excellent value. Breakfast was very good and the coffee kept on coming. The windows could do with a lick of paint on the outside but apart from that is was a lovely stay. The evening menu was also very good.
The staff were amazing. How they remain positive when they must get complaints all the time was incredible. Couldn’t find fault with any of them but a special mention for Josh, he was very patient! Room looked to have been recently refurbished but they’d forgotten the windows and ceiling, was pretty clean and beds were really comfy. Family members had a similar problem with the toilet to the one mentioned previously but this was reported Sunday evening and maintenance were there by 8.30 the next day. Food - don’t get me started! Breakfast was fine, decent selection, don’t like tea or coffee made ages before and kept warm but that’s me being fussy. Dinner was included in our package and was abysmal, best bit was the fruit salad but is it possible not to cut up fruit well? If they improved that I’d stay again or perhaps stay but eat out.
Stayed over night. Staff are very helpful, could not fault them at all. Had a sea view which was really nice in front of the beach. You can obtain a ticket for 1 day at 2.00 per day parking. Which you have to get from the reception desk which arriving in. The lift is very narrow, cannot gave more than 2 or a tight squeeze 3 if you lucky, unless you use the stairs. Didn't eat here so cannot tell you how the food is.
This was a dreadful experience I had my original room changed as it was dirty, at the back, no light ,shower true disgusting. The better replacement had a shower with only scalding water as an option ,one tiny amount of a window open ,minimal toilet paper ,t bags ,milk. Lots of noise all night. the staff are pleasant and it must be difficult for them to hear such negativity. surely this hotel could upgrade its basic standards. The worse hotel for that price I have every stayed in
Front of house is lovely. Rooms not so much. Bathroom was disgusting, especially the shower . Breakfast was rubbish for £10 no vegetarian option. Nothing was topped up so it either had all gone or was cooked to death. The horrendous noise from the refugee hostel next door kept us awake till gone 3am and then staff moving bins and tables at 630 am outside . If the standard of rooms was looked at especially the bathrooms overall the place would be lovely
The first thing I would like to comment on is the general helpfulness of the staff...but this apart... nothing else was that good. On arrival I was given the key to my room. I'm a disabled pensioner and struggle with stairs. There were 8 going down to my room. I immediately asked for a new room ...this too had 8 stairs going down to it! I returned to the reception and for the 3rd time asked to be moved. This time the receptionist went to check for me. She confirmed that the room was right outside the lift and there were no stairs. Thankful to be able to have a lie down after my journey, I was stunned by the appalling smell from the toilet? Quite how this had escaped housekeeping, I'll never know, but the bowl contained somebody's waste and soiled toilet paper. It took me 3 flushes to clear it. Lucky the large windows opened wide enough to air the room in under a minute and my deodorant hid the rest. It was then that I realised that there was no TV in the room? But by now I was in so much pain I simply wanted to sleep...so I reported it to reception later...my room never did get a TV in 3 days? This hotel is definitely NOT disable friendly, with stairs everywhere including 3 into the restaurant on the lower ground floor. The shower in my room had at least a 12" step to get in and out of and although there is a grab rail, it is virtually useless. I was forced to sit on the step for a flannel wash!!! The one saving grace is the buffet breakfast and they also manage to keep their bar prices at a very reasonable level. I'm not sure if I would ever stay here again, but maybe the fates were against me on this visit? But The Majestic was definitely, anything but. The photo of my room door, shows an unacceptable gap beneath it which I think would fail a fire inspection?
Stayed 5 days on a coach tour at reception every request dealt with.As expected the room was basic 5he shower tray was chipped, otherwise it was spotless.at the restaurant again spotless we were served by Anita? & a Portuguese young man always friendly with a bit of banter. choice of food was very good . MIND YOU THE BAR PRICES WERE TO OTT ESPECIALLY A SMALL bottle of coke for £3.00 We stayed in room 4 remember to put a screen at e wt heiwindowndow !!!!!
Great hotel on the beach front. Lovely staff and comfortable beds. Very helpful to anything we needed. Would defiantly stay again! The rooms were very clean however I would say attention needs to be taken on the cleanliness of the hooks on the back of the bathroom doors. There was a large build up of dust but that would be the only thing that was not so good about the hotel. Everything else was great!
