We wanted a hotel in the centre of Wimbledon to enjoy both a couple of theatre visits and enjoy the local bars and restaurants.nnThe Travelodge Wimbledon Central was the perfect choice.nnA few moments walk away from the train station, just over the road from the shops and bars and also a couple of minutes away from the New Wimbledon Theatre.nnThe hotel is clearly still quite new and was spotless throughout. The reception, bar and buffet breakfast area are all on the first floor and breakfast was really tasty, all apart from their pancakes straight from the fridge. That was the only disappointment of the stay, but actually the main reason we were tempted to have breakfast there. Cheryl loves a pancake stack.... but not a freezing cold one.nnOur 'Super' room was on the 6th floor and was immaculate, spacious and with great air conditioning. The adjustable shower had real power and was also nice and hot from the moment you turned it on.nnSleep wasn't a problem and we both had a great night's rest, probably helped by all the steps we did exploring the area and a couple of glasses of wine.nnGreat that the standard checkout is 12pm meaning you're not rushed on the morning you leave and they also have great options for early check-in from 12pm and a later 2pm checkout.nnThe final comments are for the excellent friendly staff from check-in, through to the bar and restaurant staff. Very polite and nothing too much trouble for them.nnWe'll definitely return to this hotel when next in the area.
Let me start by saying that we had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel had booked the super rooms. It gets high marks from us. I visited with may parents in July and stayed there for 4 nights. We had a smooth check-in experience with Sharmine when we arrived late on a Saturday. There was a mix up with our rooms initially, so we were provided with a free drink, which was quite refreshing to be honest. The host and everybody involved were warm and courteous. We had planned on trying out a dish initially, but we eventually ordered something else, but during our meal we were surprised as Sharmine offered us a portion of the food we had initially planned on ordering. That was a wonderful gesture and made our stay quite enjoyable. The hotel was new, rooms were tidy and the tea supplies topped up on time. My only complain would be around the variety of the breakfast, which could have been more diverse. The location was excellent as it provided access to both the tube and overground rails in under 5 mins, which provided quick connectivity to the main city center. All in all, a new clean hotel the google street view does not do it justice as it shows an older picture tbh, very near to important stations, has very good food and drink options nearby and has exceptional reception staff. Highly recommended.
The reception staff were friendly, professional, and competent. Since I stayed so frequently, some became almost like extended family. I loved talking to quite a few of them, and I already miss staying here just for the company. I could tell the interview process was quite rigorous for those front-staff employees.nnUnfortunately, the hotel brand has a few problems. For instance, the fact that there was no garbage can in the reception was uncomfortable and awkward as I had to give things like dirty tissues to the staff. And I'm sure it was/is unpleasant for the staff as well. I wish there were also fridges in each room like in American hotels. But unlike American hotels, the price not during peak tennis season was very reasonable, ranging from around 45-80 pounds a night.nnThe location is decent, though if you want to go to Central frequently, it is inconvenient and expensive about 5 pounds each way via train to Waterloo. Wimbledon High Street is lovely and a three-minute walk away?? As a result, the hotel is very close to the rail services, the tube, the tram, Overground ? don't quote me on that one, etc.
Stayed for one night. Hotel was relatively quiet. Check in was quick and easy. Room carpet was a bit stained and there was hair in the shower.
Shaida and Afnan, two of the most lovely members of staff one could hope to encounter. Helpful, polite and genuinely kind, great customer service. Thank you ladies for making my stay feel really special.nOther members of staff who booked me in yesterday, looked after my bags until my room was ready as I was so early. No problem asking for extra coffee or milks.nMakes such a difference when away from home, thank you.
