I stayed here for my 5 days in London for my Honeymoon. We had never been to London before and did research and thought this would be a great choice. The hotel is in a good location, close to the tube for travel but everything else fell short. Our honeymoon was not acknowledged even though we mentioned it, and signed up for the stars rewards where there was supposed to be a fun included promotion for us on this once in a lifetime trip, we also did not receive the discount at the restaurant for the stars and the restaurant food was as bland as humanly possible. I would not include the breakfast here as it’s overpriced and bad, we did not use it everyday and they would not refund us the difference. There is better breakfast in walking distance for a half of the price. There was no view to our room, just a back ally. The bed was comfortable but that’s about as good as it gets. I am super disappointed in this hotel pick, if you go. I would definitely do research and find a hotel much cheaper, as this was absolutely not even worth half the price of our stay, and long as you’re close to a tube you’re completely fine. I am baffled to read this is a 5 star hotel, I give it 3 stars and that’s being generous because everyone was actually very nice. It fell very short of what I wanted an amazing honeymoon stay to be and was definitely not 5 star service.
I have stayed for few times before in this property prior to Covid and it was always a top class experience. I came back this year and staying for few days. It is an absolute shock how the service level has deteriorated! Nothing can be attributed to a 5 stars English boutique hotel. Clearly the management decided to cut cost on the expense of customer experience. No 24 hours laundry service , no housekeeping after 6pm, limited in room dining menu, inexperienced staff in the night shift and it goes on. I certainly feel extremely disappointed having paid premium rate to get that level of service! The only thing prime about this property now is the location Rooms: The rooms have no electricity near to the beds wish makes it inconvenient if you have a c pap or a phone charges to place at bed side
Great location, the bus stop and tube station is right in front of the hotel. I would not rate this a 5 star hotel. Rooms were tiny and needed a refresh stained carpets, worn furniture. This is a 3 star hotel at best. Service was mediocre. You have to leave your key when you leave the hotel and there was not always a person at the front desk when you needed them.
Pros: location, close to underground tube, clean, they upgraded me to a bigger room. Cons: hotel is older and outdated, not sound proof. The food was okay. The breakfast I only had once and it wasn’t anything to brag about. I asked for a receipt during checkout and they refused and said it was the booking travel agency’s responsibility. What a joke. The employee at the Italian restaurant made a comment asking if I was sure I was a guest at the hotel and if I was just saying that to get out of paying my dinner bill. I was appalled by this and at check out when they asked for service tip of £15 pounds per day resulting to $60. I’ve never had any hotel directly ask for a tip. I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels in Mexico, Dominican Republic and France; and never have they asked for one. Even the U.S. does not ask for tips in their hotels even though tipping culture is out of control in the States. It is not the guests responsibility to contribute to the employees salary. You charge guests an arm and a leg to per night, and guests should not be asked to tip. It’s extremely off putting. After this experience I will not recommend this hotel and would not return.
I had an appalling experience at this hotel, it is meant to be a five star hotel, I can assure you it is not. It's a low four star at best. It reminds me of the old bed and breakfasts you used to get in the area with a makeover. Was promised a bottle of sparkling wine in the room, it never appeared. The walls were covered in fabric, which had holes and questionable stains. The bathroom was tired, limescaled, and the wooden bath panel was rotting. Breakfast was appalling. Firstly, drinks: they were ordered at the same time as the food. It took over 20 minutes for the food to arrive, when we were asked if we would like a refill of our drinks, would help if the first round arrived! This was after prompting a number of times. The food was style over substance, and overcooked. I asked for brown sauce and fresh items of the overcooked items. Ten minutes later and I was given brown toast instead of the sauce. By now my breakfast was cold, and I had lost any desire I had to eat, and reception were already aware of the issues. I asked for a croissant as a simple replacement, after ten minutes no croissant, so I chased this up also, I was told that the wait staff had forgotten to place the order. I asked them to pass this along to the management, to then be told that they had in fact ran out of croissants and they were being baked. I had a good sit down chat at check out with the manager, Adella, about the issues. And we agreed that she would contact hotels . Com to arrange a refund, but told me it would take up to six weeks. Well it's been six weeks and I have had no refund. The only matter that was resolved as a bottle of prosecco was given to take home. Abolsutely appalling service for a supposed five star hotel. Location wise if you're wanting South Kensington/Albertopolis it's great but don't stay there for that
Great boutique hotel, lovely decor, and clean, attractive rooms. Good location, stones throw away from the tube station, and ideal for The Royal Albert Hall. Breakfast is good, and decent options.. just be patient as it can take some time to get your food, but it's worth it. Rooms: Clean rooms, great decor, and a lovely, comfy bed. Nearby activities: Kensington Palace, Royal Albert Hall, Natural History Museum. Safety: Really safe neighbourhood Walkability: Close to the Tube Station and quality restaurants
An oasis of calm away from the buzz of South Kensington. The cosy library is perfect for drinks and nibbles. Squishy arm chairs and great service. Loved it.Service: 5/5
My room was quiet and comfortable. The bathroom was modern but could have used brighter lighting. The staff was courteous and very helpful. The hotel decor could use some updating Walkability: The location was very close to the South Kensington tube station and convenient to numerous cafes and shops
I have had a reservation last week, the location was ideal and so were the rooms and the general cleanliness of the establishment. The hotel and La Trattoria staff were perfectly lovely except the manager whom I assume is called George. He was not only extensively unhelpful when I asked him to attend to minor service requests but likewise seemed inconvenciend and disinterested towards any further quieres I made, seemingly not paying me or my companion any attention even standing and chatting directly beside us. He appeared to be inebriated or under the influence of something which is extremely unprofessional and left me absolutely appalled by the service. He constantly spoke down to all the lovely young staff who serviced me and my partner, and seemed almost irritated that we were being serviced promptly while not paying attention to us even once. Had it not been for the manager I would have left a five star review for the amazing dishes and my beautiful stay but as the evening was absolutely spoiled by his attitude I have to leave an unfortunately low review. If you are eating at La trattoria, please avoid making any requests to the manager at all costs.
the Pelham is a real jewel in south kensigtnon. Nice rooms, nice lobby and the honnesty bar is a superb experience. The Personnel is realy nice and with a lot of attention for clients. Close to all that you need, 20 meter from the metro, and plenty of restaurants around, the museum, the parc...
