This hotel is perfectly situated close to the tube and very close to all West End venues. Although our room wasn’t ready at the advertised checking in time, the reception staff quickly rectified the situation by giving us an equal room that was ready. Rooms are quite spacious and very clean but the bed wasn’t that comfortable but still bearable. The breakfast was very good.Overall this is a very good value for money hotel in an exclusive part of London.
Pros: Excellent location, short walk to underground, shops and restaurants and many tourist attractions. Pretty decorated lobby, feels cosy good first Impression. Room has the typical hotel bits which was convenient. Cons: we got a room in the basement and window was half way below The street. Aircon in that room was unbearably loud, had to decide between having heating but unable to sleep to that noise or turn it off for some peace but a freezing room. In the end I was unable to sleep all night, from the above, plus an uncomfortable pillow and listening to cars go past all night. I have stayed over in London at different hotels before, though streets are somewhat equally noisy with cars, as well as many other hotels through travel history but i have never experienced unable to fall sleep before. I paid extra to make a booking with breakfast included, a typical check in experience the staff should tell you what time is breakfast on next day. That was not informed upon my check in. Assumed it’ll be the same 7am that’s why I booked it, we had to check out early next day. But only to find out on the next day, a hotel breakfast runs Sunday hours, on 8am instead. We had to leave by then at the latest, asked the staff if we can take some bread at least, he said we can’t, buffet is still preparing. So we paid for hotel breakfast but in the end didn’t get it had to pay for another breakfast else where. Requested a refund for the difference, again got a no for that, got offered a breakfast upon my next stay instead. but for somewhere I cannot fall asleep I am highly unlikely to return for a second stay so nothing solved in the end.
As soon as we walked in everyone couldn't do enough for us, travelling alone with 3 under 6 isn't always easy, but the guys on your front desk went above and beyond to help in every way possible! The room was bigger than expected, the location is great. But the people made our trip! Would be happy to return already planning a trip in the summer, if you'll have us back
Spotlessly clean , old style rooms Old style house , steps were not a problem for us but could be for some. Ask for ground floor rooms. Friendly polite staff Very good breakfast. Very central. A stones throw from Gloucester Road Tube in Kensington Perfect location for a weekend away. Reasonable rates. Nearby activities: Concerts Walks History Cultural activities all in the area. Walkability: Hyde Park close by Tubes close by Royal Albert hall and museums about 10 mins walk. Plenty of cafes and restaurants.
We were allocated a family room even though we booked a double. The room was a basement room and very hot and stuffy. Also smelled like a drain. Once we ran the air conditioner all was good and the smell dissipated. The bathroom is very small, but this common in the UK. The spaciousness of the room made up for any shortcomings. The room was extremely quiet. We did not hear any traffic noise when we were in the room, which was a pleasant surprise considering the hotel is on busy Gloucester Rd. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Excellent location, a couple of minutes walk to Gloucester Rd tube station and quite a few restaurants nearby. I would stay here again.
I chose this hotel for its location and I wasn't disappointed. Just a 30 second walk from Gloucester Road tube and 5 minutes to the museums and High Street Kensington. This makes a fantastic base for exploring London. The hotel is beautiful from the outside and spotless inside with great staff. It's a little dated so don't expect an all modern interior but for the price it's excellent. It would cost double with a brand new refurbishment so take advantage of the good value now. We had a huge twin room with two singles and one double bed and it had air conditioning which was a bonus on the warm weekend. For the location and value alone I would stay here again.
This was my fourth stay at the Montana. While room decor is dated, and rooms vary in size, the location is perfect, across the street from a tube station, and within walking distance of museums, Hyde Park, and Kensington Palace. The continental breakfast is fine, the staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The rooms are cleaned daily, and the shower is excellent. All this at a great price.
Hello, I spent Saturday November 9th and Sunday 20th at the Montana Hotel. It was absolutely fabulous. I was on my own but felt completely safe. The staff were unbelievably kind, friendly and so eager to help. Nothing was too much trouble. My room was clean, comfortable and warm. The breakfast was delicious, tea very hot and fresh. This hotel is a jewel in London. I will certainly come to stay again. I was in room 102. Excellent. Jayne Lloyd. Many thanks to you all.
The room was very small, but well equipped, altough it could use a little renovation. For 2 nights it’s perfect with this price. Breakfast was good. The location is the best, stores and restaurants are close, as well as the underground station.Rooms: 4/5
Very nice hotel in a superb location. Used it as a base for visiting Royal Albert Hall and the various museums Natural History, Science, etc and it is perfectly situated for all of these. Fifteen minute walk from the RAH, probably half that for the museums, and across the road is Gloucester Road tube station, a large Waitrose supermarket, Ask Italian restaurant, a Pizza Express, the hotel's own Indian restaurant, etc. Rooms quite dated and a very small lift - not sure a wheelchair could get in it easily; it might do but worth checking if you use one.
