Duke Of Leinster Hotel

Story

Leinster Gardens is a street in Bayswater, London. It has two false façades at numbers 23 and 24, constructed in the late 1860s, at the time of the original steam engine-hauled underground railway that had a short section exposed to the surface in the space between residences at numbers 22 and 25.Locomotives were fitted with condensers to reduce fumes, but "venting off" was still needed in open-air sections to relieve the condensers and keep the tunnels free from smoke. In this upmarket area, the railway company hid this unsightly practice from residents. The false façade also maintained a continuous frontage along a prestigious terrace. The façade is 5 feet (1.5 m) thick, behind which is a ground level opening above the rail line. The façade includes 18 blackened windows and front doors with no letter boxes. In the 1930s, a hoax was played on guests who were sold ten-Guinea tickets to a charity ball at Leinster Gardens, only to turn up in evening dress to discover the address was fake.Adjacent streets and areas include Queensway and Craven Hill Gardens. The façade of 23 & 24 played a part in the BBC TV series Sherlock, being used in the episode "His Last Vow".

Booked the room for a family. The photos on the website do not give a true idea of the space in the rooms. It is very cluttered with barely any space to walk. The bathroom constantly smelled of smoke, after informing the staff she under-looked it and told me somebody was smoking and the fire alarm was on. Definitely that was a lie because the smell was lingering there for days. More than that cannot appreciate the receptionist lying on our face. Can understand the Hotel was booked. However, no attempt was made from their side to take feedback on later days, if we were comfy in our room. We were merely adjusting to that smell. So it’s not a value for money hotel at all. Won’t be recommending this hotel to anyone.
I Would give the hotel a three but the breakfast wasn’t up to standards, the sign outside said It was an extensive buffet with cold and hot food but there was a lack of options without any sausages, bacon or traditional cooked breakfast dishes. However the rooms were clean and tidy as with what you would expect from a 2-3 star hotelRooms: 3/5
One of the pristine locations of london that person can ask stay for The rooms were very luxuriously designed and compact yet spacious. Away from the hustle of the main city..it is well connected by queensway subway and bus station just 450m walkable distance The place is well connected for delivery of eatery Rooms: Very tidy rooms and with nice facilities given inside the room Walkability: Walkable distance to the main subway and bus stops Food & drinks: Delivery of almost all famous eateries are available in the room
Came here to stay for three days and was greeted by the lovely reception lady she gave us the room keys to our room, opened the door and was greeted by a farm barn in our room the bedding frame was stained with white paint, the light was hanging out of its socket and there was a hornets nest lying on the top of the window. Nothing else was bad at all we couldn’t be moved to a diferent room as they was fully booked either way never staying again
I am late for my review but upon finding a hotel I noticed the extortionate prices this hotel is charging for the month of December only. I originally booked this hotel for the end of March 2020 before covid was known about. However, due to covid this hotel expectedly closed for the dates I chose. Not a problem, couldn’t be helped. What was a problem though was firstly, trying to rearrange once it was back open. After numerous phone calls and emails, I eventually rebooked for December 2021. This was a pre pay hotel, so the deluxe double with breakfast included was already paid for 2 years prior when originally booked. The rebooking was then booked as a standard double room and the employee stated in the email that they’d add complimentary breakfast for the trouble, which was already included anyway. But I was stressed at this point as trying to rebook was stressful enough so I let the downgrade on my room go. Then, on arrival, the lady at reception couldn’t find my booking, couldn’t find any of the email correspondence between the hotel and I. She was on and off the phone with her manager for at least half an hour before they finally found our emails and bunged us in any old room without an apology, no goodwill gesture, nothing. When we got to our room, it was obviously a family room for just two of us. With the numerous different beds in the room it felt like we had just checked into a hostel, or some squatters space. The bathroom was tiny and the whole stay made me feel uncomfortable. This hotel is absolutely not worth the prices they are charging this December or even the rest of the year.
We booked this hotel using a voucher we were gifted as a "luxury 2 night stay including breakfast" of which we had to pay an extra £68 for this particular hotel. We booked this particular weekend as it was mother's day and it would be the first year without my mum so we wanted to celebrate her but also take our minds away from the sadness. The photographs online of this hotel make it look really quite reasonable. Unfortunately our stay wasn't great. When we arrived our room wasn't avaliable so we were "upgraded" to the quad room. We were advised not to unpack as we would need to move the following morning which just set us off on a bad foot really. The quad room was on the 6th floor, had a double and 2 singles, you could barely walk infront of the singles to get into the bathroom. Also the room was absolutely boiling hot with no fan and obviously a window that can only be opened a small amount due to health and safety. The shower cubicle was tiny, you need to open the doors to give the space to bend over and wash your feet! We were advised that we wouldn't need to book breakfast, we could just turn up and we would be seated. When we arrived at the breakfast room also tiny guests were queuing out of the door and the whole place was chaos. From what we saw of the breakfast selection, it looked awful. We decided to leave and buy breakfast elsewhere. As we were leaving, the receptionist asked for our key as they wanted to move rooms for us. Unfortunately I hadn't packed away all of our things as I didn't want to put our dirty washing we had travelled to the hotel straight from work on top of our clean things for the rest of our weekend. So I asked for a black sack and I then had to go back to our room so that we could be moved. When we returned to the hotel later I'm the afternoon, we were given another room on the 6th floor which was also boiling hot, a tiny bathroom with a broken shower riser rail and little space to put anything. On Sunday morning we were awake at 0730 because it was so warm and we checked out at 0830, we bypassed breakfast as by this point we had really seen enough. It falls far short of a luxury bed a breakfast. It could really be beautiful given some investment. Thankfully the location makes up for some of the bad points.
I really can’t understand why the hotel is underrated. Very good location and confortable stay. Perfect for the price we had to pay.
Stayed for a few days. Great proximity to paddington station and hyde park. It's about a 15 min walk to paddington. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy. I throughly enjoyed my stay on the 4th floor. Breakfast consisted of ham, bacon, beans, toast, cherry tomatoes, eggs, baked goods, yogurt, and juices with your choice of tea or coffee. It made a great start to the day and the staff in the hotel is very friendly.
The only positive thing we can mention about this hotel is that the matress in the room was ok. The bathroom was stinking and the floor looked very dirty. There where teabags and instant coffee in the room but no watercooker! The breakfast was also not good. The egg was blue on the inside, the coffee was dirty. It was served in a small room in the basement. I could look from my table in the kitchen and i almost had to throw up. The toilet near the breakfast area was also very dirty. Actually the whole hotel was looking run down and dirty. We had a terrible stay in this hotel.
This hotel was expensive and mediocre in quality. The room was not clean several bugs upon arrival and there was so much furniture crammed into it, it was difficult to move inside the room. One AC unit and the key card pad on the door were broken. It was dirty and the furniture was in poor condition. The second AC unit was not set up to dispense the hot air outside and we were in a basement room, so we had to open the little alley window and vent the AC unit ourselves and cover the remaining open window with a towel and fan. The only reason for the two stars instead of one, was that the water pressure in the shower was very good and the included breakfast was also appreciated.
