Stayed here for one night. It gets four stars simply because the young lady receptionist that served me so kind, helpful and polite. I myself did a one bed bedroom. It wasn't five star but you get what you pay for and I got what I paid for. A small room with bathroom/shower which was nice and clean. The room itself had a table with facility to make tea/coffee. A TV, safe and hangers to hang your clothes, not a cupboard as such. To get to your room you do have walk through a lot of corridors and stairs. Some arrows pointing toward the reception wouldn't go amiss. It does say reception on some doors. There is also a restaurant but not sure what time it closes as it was 8pm when I went and it was shut. The is a bar next door so not far to walk if you fancy a drink. Although kept clean it could do with a update.
Large, tidy room with lovely reception service. Bathroom quite tired, but bed is comfortable. Room has a lockable safe with mains socket inside which is a nice touch. Breakfast buffet is £9.50 which is rather pricey considering the quality, and that there is a Wetherspoons just over the road! All in all, we were accommodated at very short notice and, for the price, I can't complain. Look out for comparison sites to get the best deals on rooms.
Very poor because the room stunk of tobacco fumes. Because the hotel was full for the first two days I was not able to move room despite raising the issue to reception staff. The night porter failed to remind day staff on the third day and due to a busy schedule I did not return to hotel until 11pm and nothing had been organised to move room. They made no effort to change my room, they did not care. I was locked out of the hotel one evening because the front entrance door key card entry did not work and their main front door is closed after 10pm. Poor customer service with poor communication amongst staff and a lack of management and leadership. Very disappointed and leave with a smell of tobacco smoke on my clothes and the stench in my nose still lingering Not recommended unless you are a smoker where you will be well at home! There’s only one electric socket in the double room situated by the kettle far away from the bed and chair so unable to plug phone and laptop in to charge let alone beside the bed or chair to use whilst laying in bed or sitting down. Poorly designed rooms which are dull and outdated. I’ve also noticed reviews by some other people who must be hotel staff or friends trying to cover up faults and mislead people which lacks integrity. Room not fit for purpose and not as described and a substantial refund should have been offered especially as I took the time to email the hotel as well. Hotel should refund a large part of the cost of the stay as is required
I checked in late, the night porter was very friendly and helpful! The room was a bit cold for my liking when I arrived and the heating appeared to be off. I was warm enough under the duvet though! Breakfast was well varied, with continental and hot options all available. Very reasonable price for it too. Would happily stay here again.
Had a Superior double room. The room itself No 4 was spacious and comfortable, with a large bathroom. Managed to get a car park space as well, and hotel is in good position. However, the room was right above the very noisy bar below with thumping music, so no chance of sleep until the early hours of the morning. The bar also has seating outside right below the room, so I would hate to be here in the summer when the outside is used. Disappointed with stay as not cheap.
Really liked my one night here in my room with a view - great location close by to takeaways & supermarkets; free parking; friendly staff; spacious room & bathroom; comfortable bed; powerful & hot shower; good facilities in room... But, maybe bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper, because other guests may be noisy
Outwardly looks okay, Inside could really do with a revamp. We paid £128 for a double room on a Saturday night with no breakfast. This was taken on check in, never a good sign. The room had a musty smell to it, the decor was very tired and the shower was barely a dribble which still managed to go cold followed by exceedingly hot. The bath was chipped and the tiling needed a proper re grout, the toilet roll was folded into a point so at least the cleaners have been to hotel school. Unlike most hotels I've stayed in the bed really was just a double and not a king size so it felt a bit cramped as well as uncomfortable. The window in our room did not open so it was too warm especially coupled with the 38 tog duvet on the small bed. Had the bed been a decent size and comfortable I might not have noticed the racket that the pipes started making in the middle of the night that continued for a good couple of hours, it sounded like someone was doing a power flush of the radiators with the valves half shut or a very large toilet filling up through old pipes. When checking out we discovered the management only work weekdays so we couldn't even have a good moan. Hotel only deserves 1 star but given 2 stars because the staff were pleasant and the cleaners made the best of a bad job and the free to use mobile phone was a nice touch. I don't like giving bad reviews but I left this place feeling thoroughly ripped off
We entered into a dark and dingy reception area. After booking in we looked for a lounge, but there are no facilities to speak of other than the actual room. Calling it a hotel is possibly a breach of the trade descriptions act as it is basically a motel. There is a room for breakfast but we did not have breakfast as it was not included in the price. We then dragged our suitcases up a maze of narrow stair cases to the top floor. There is no lift and this is not made clear. Everywhere there is a slightly musty smell from the carpets which should have been put on a bonfire 10 years ago. On getting to the room we were disappointed to have an attic room where half the space is a sloping ceiling. The only light was a small dormer window which barely opens, so there is the same musty and stuffy smell and hardly any light. The double bed takes up most of the room so the bathroom door can't be opened fully and there is no room for an average sized person to sit at the desk. The bathroom was new but everything in it was ultra-budget including the plastic shower curtains. There was air conditioning but you need it to get rid of the musty smell as the window is so small. If the windows are open there is a fair amount of road noise. When we came back from a day out, the dirty mugs had not be replaced and nor had the teabags - only one each. On querying this with reception we were told this was due to Covid. This is fair enough, but they could tell you in advance and provide more teabags and tell you where to get clean mugs. They were provided on request. This was appalling value for money charging reasonable hotel prices for a worse than budget hotel experience. On our return we have booked a travel lodge for half the price and we expect it to to be immeasurably better.
Staff are generally friendly but ultimately often unhelpful. The rooms are decent, although varying in quality the bathroom, in particular, can vary a lot in quality. I had water pressure issues when staying on the top floor. WiFi is also spotty if you are on a high floor, otherwise fine. Breakfast is pretty good, although relatively expensive. All in all, a decent place to stay for business or short stops, but less so for pleasure.
Good parking, tidy reception, rooms good and clean but tired. Good shower...even though the hose leaked. Sadly no bar or evening food, but perhaps that was just a Monday? Good pub 100yards away. Nicely presented and hot buffet breakfast, with a good choice too. If in Southampton, we'll go again.
