Had lunch here. Very good, well prepared food. We both had sandwiches off the lunch menu. I had the fish sandwich, and she had the chicken salad sandwich. Both were served with triple fried chips fries. Excellent, the fries were perfect, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and hot. The sandwiches were both just plain good. We had the brownie and ice cream for dessert again excellent. The price off the lunch menu was very reasonable. Or waiter Jack gave us top-notch service! I highly recommend it. We did not stay in a room, so I can't comment on that.
Excellent food and service. Dinner was reasonably priced and you get a 10% discount if staying. Breakfast is cooked to order and delicious There are no lifts but staff offer to help bring the luggage to your room We stayed in room 15 which was a bit of a trek up the stairs. Check in is not a minute before 3pm so keep that in mind if you've just embarked from a cruise. Good location with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby Room was beautiful with complementary tea and coffee. We so enjoyed our stay in The White Star tavern.
We had an amazing stay at the White Star! The location was in a quaint neighborhood with many restaurants nearby. We had the recommended fish and chips for lunch and it was wonderful. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. Brenda is amazing and really helped us so much. The room was nice with so much included. We ended the stay with a yummy cooked to order breakfast. I highly recommend the White Star! Cheers!
Bridget and her lovely staff could not have been more accommodating. The conveniently located historic inn and restaurant has all the charm and personality we love....yet the rooms have been elegantly updated. The food is a cut above average tavern food. And a splendid breakfast is included in your room rate. Within walking distance of Old Town and lots of shopping. And located on a street with other bars and restaurants. Perfect. Rooms: Comfortable beds and luxury bathrooms Walkability: 10 to 15 minute walk to old town, city center and a huge shopping mall Food & drinks: A creative menu with a chef's panache
Nice place to wait for your cruise ship. It's about a 10 minute taxi ride to Mayflower Cruise terminal but just a little too far to walk comfortably with luggage. Attractions were a bit of a walk to get to from the hotel but not a real problem. The staff was outstanding and were very focused on your needs and always willing to assist. The in-house restaurant puts out good pub food and a great breakfast. The location was central to a large selection of neighboring restaurants with a variety of food styles if you want something different. Unfortunately there's no elevators so you'll have to move your luggage up the stairs yourself; the staff may be able to assist. The rooms are comfortable and clean. I'd recommend this hotel if you're in Southampton to pick up a ship.
Went for a bite to eat whilst doing Uni run...... Decent food and beer, nice look and vibe inside, seems to be the place to go in this city..... Have noted for future visits.... Interesting how many places match London now price wise.Service: 4/5
Stayed here for only one night before a cruise and would definitely return next time in Southampton. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, the rooms were beautiful, and the food was delicious. The location is superb for a walk around the old city sightseeing and also close to the cruise terminal. We met a gentleman in the tavern that grew up in the town during WWII and told us some amazing and interesting facts about the town and buildings. Rooms: Comfortable Queen bed, nice bathroom. The rooms are nicely decorated. nothing crazy Nearby activities: Historic sites such as Tudor House, site of Jane Austin's residence she lived there 2 years, Titanic memorial, medieval mechant house, The Arcades, Bargate...there's so much more Walkability: Historic sites, shops, restaurants are within a few steps from the entrance. Food & drinks: Food was delicious. Had the brushetta and it was out of this world, my daughter enjoyed the pizza and hamburger. Full english breakfast in the morning was delicious. Noteworthy details: The rooms are named after the historic ships that were launched from the Port!
Had an early evening meal here in one of their booths. The service was really friendly and helpful and the excellent food arrived quickly. Highly recommended.Service: 5/5
Me and 3 friends had our evening meal here, the price was fair but the chicken was a bit over done on 3 of the meals. It was a simple meal and we did eat up but maybe might not return because of this. In saying that the staff were lovely.Service: 4/5
A lovely two night stay at the White Star Tavern in Southampton. Very central location and close to bars and restaurants, and very convenient for the ferry terminals. The room was very well equipped with the comfiest mattress!, the staff were attentive and the food and drink was excellent. We will not think twice to stay here again on our next visit to Southampton.
