Went for a business trip, saw lots of bad reviews on here and was dubious, however I am writing this review because they need something positive. Was welcomed warmly with everything explained from the restaurant hours and access, told to register car for parking, given a warm cookie after they asked if I had any allergies. Given my key. I went up to my floor and a first it seemed there was a funny smell, like dirty socks, however it was gone the next day and didn't impact the room. The room was clean and fresh, couple of makes on the bedding and a minor hole in the duvet but nothing untoward and no "stains" two types of pillow available and plenty of towels. AC was a little tricky but I just put it on auto and it brought the temp down as I wanted and I could open the window enough to allow fresh air in with a woodland view which I loved, was just missing some squirrels running by. I did notice that my shower gel in bathroom was empty so asked at reception and they gave me two choices, they could give me a couple small bottles of I needed it now or if I was happy for them to go into my room they would change the bottle themselves. I went for the second option since I was going to try the restaurant, they did as I had asked by time I got back to my room the shower gel was full, so they really are keen for a positive experience. Dinner portions in the restaurant were good and the staff were observant and attentive clearing plates as soon as empty and asking if needed anything more only thing I found was the salad dressing was on mass meaning the lettuce didn't have much crunch but the flavour was there. Breakfast was as id expect a breakfast buffet to be food was cooked and hot a great range of hot and cold options and juices and hot drinks all topped up throughout service, again the staff were attentive and great at clearing and very friendly, just need better observation on people coming in as sometimes they were running around so much they couldn't see anyone waiting to be seated but the wait was never insanely long. I have to say thank you to the staff as they were lovely and patient with people and seemed to really enjoy their jobs. I definitely enjoyed staying there for a couple nights and felt refreshed each morning. Shower was great, better in the evening than in the morning as for some reasons the temperature was fluctuating in the morning, but definitely not something to put anyone off.
Absolutely disgraceful organisation and treatment of newly weds who were left with no room on their wedding night. My sister booked this hotel for the night of her wedding and dropped off bags with the hotel in the morning, but when they got there in the evening after the wedding, they were told it was now fully booked and their room had been given away despite the room being confirmed and luggage being held. They sat in the lobby for 2 hours before a room was found at an entirely different hotel, a horrible end to such a perfect day.
We are currently at this hotel. I give it NO star. Paid a pretty penny and the service is terrible. No one answers the reception or operator number. There was no fridge in the room. When we asked they said we should have asked for it. They did give it to us but didn't think we need to ask for a fridge in room. The sink is clogged. They only gave us water in room for the first nite. Then we called for more water. No one answered the phone We went down to pick more water to be told they don't have any. Today 4th nite, there is no hot water to habe a shower We called to check why this was the case , no reply. My husband went down to reception to be told they will switch it on and to wait for an hour. We were also horribly woken up this morning with a loud, deafening fire alarm that went off at 6am. I won't be surprised if an older person had a mild attack with how loud the fire alarm was. Turns out that was faulty too. I write this as we wait for the water to heat in order to have a shower. And we have 2 more nights here! I'm dreading it. On a positive note, although the hotel is so short staffed, the 2 ladies at reception Celia and the red haired lady do their best given the circumstances Rooms: It's ok Walkability: Easy
Nice welcome and room was clean. Had a good nights sleep. Bed linen usually very good but was old and a small stain on one of the twin beds. Breakfast was not good. Even though I went early the selection was poor and had the heated food had started drying up. Pastry offer very poor. I usually like the Hilton brand but this one was disappointing.
Great service in the bar and restaurant, however, the food itself was mediocre at best. Reception colleagues were relatively efficient but not particularly friendly. Breakfast was ok, but not great. Standard of daily room cleaning was varied. Walkability: Not easy to walk anywhere from here. Food & drinks: Every evening meal I tried was poor. Breakfast was better, but still not great.
Booked a cruise package. Restaurant didn't open on time and no one could give us a time it would open so we had to go elsewhere. Next day the taxi we booked was over an hour late and again no information. When I went to the desk to get help or complain, there was nobody at the desk and a queue of people waiting. I wouldn't recommend booking this again. Update: To add to the response from the hotel, the taxi was booked the night before and with the recommended 1.5 hours before boarding and it never turned up, we ended up taking an Uber.
Cannot say enough great things about the hotel and staff. Location is beautiful hotel and grounds have charm and character. Food in the dining room is excellent. Most importantly the manager Ben English and front desk Jacob go above and beyond to help guests with anything they may need. When I had a need for medication both Ben and Jacob went the extra mile to arrange how I could get it. When I had an important package from Fed ex to arrive Jacob made sure that the front desk contacted me to let me know it arrived. Seriously I’ve never stayed at a hotel with such caring staff.
Poor staffing levels led to huge delays in service. Staff were cheerful, helpful but completely overwhelmed. Enjoyed the Board Game ConventionRooms: 3/5
Good for motorway access and for Southampton, rooms are fine, beds fairly comfy. Breakfast staff had to be prompted to refill some breakfast items as if they didn't expect guests to turn up around 8.30-9 am. Poor choice of ham, cheese, bread and croissants.Rooms: 4/5
We booked an overnight with car parking through Holiday Extras otherwise the overnight parking rate is quite expensive. Hotel and room were clean and comfortable. Ordered taxi next day to take to Docks in Southampton which arrived 30 minutes late but made up this time in the journey. Hotel was further away from Docks than I had anticipated but right on M3 so easy to start journey home. Another 30 minute wait at docks when waiting for return taxi amongst the chaos of disembarking
