Outstanding location. The hostel itself is beautifully themed, it’s almost like going back in time. The staff are very kind and helpful. The events are well orchestrated. The beds were comfortable and the price is fair. One piece of feedback would be to theme the rooms in a similar fashion to the rest of the hostel, then it would be absolutely perfect!

One of my top favorite places to stay not only in Edinburgh but all of Scotland! Staff is professional, helpful, inclusive and fun! They host ALL KINDS of fun activities so that you have a chance to bond with other travelers on your visit! Everything is perfectly clean - and if you have any issue of sorts, just talk to the front desk and they will help you out! They even have a hold room for luggage if you arrive earlier than your check in time and want to roam around the city without your bags for a while! I can't recommend this place enough! Will absolutely be staying again!

Best hostel experience ever. Period. 

Castle Rock had amazing staff, nice and clean rooms, great bathroom/kitchen facilities too. Where it really shines is its free evening activities: everything from ghost tours to beer pong! I went on the Ceilidh night (traditional Scottish dancing) and pub crawl - both were amazing fun and some of the best nights I have ever had. Got to meet amazing people, drink lots and have a ridiculously good time.

A perfect way to experience the stunning place that is Edinburgh.

This place was amazing!! So conveniently located, literally at the base of the castle,  and it had great staff and a great atmosphere. We stayed in a very small (but affordable) private room during the Christmas holiday and they made it really special. They did a big Christmas luncheon on and a party that evening at a local pub. The also surprised everyone with Christmas sock "stockings" on Christmas morning. Laundry services were cheap and you don't have to spend 3 hours in a room watching your clothes dry. Would absolutely stay here again!!

Absolutely amazing location! Lots of cool stuff to check out inside the hostel and around! Staff is great and ask them for food recommendations. They won't let you down!
