This place is pretty much a gem. Great staff, very clean and well kept, free breakfast, and I adore the "Japanese coffin hotel" modality where bunks are fully enclosed, so you feel like you have a lot more privacy than usual. It's also ideally located, only a 10 minute walk from Edinburgh Castle, and right next to the Assembly Rooms. The mattress quality needs some work; might have just been an issue with my one particular pod though. Everything else, including the fantastic location and the value, make it a place to give serious attention to when planning your next trip to Edinburgh.

Really cool place. Good breakfast selection. The location is in a decent area however the windows look out onto an alley that is extremely noisy in the morning with workers loading and unloading things from the pub next door. The Pod beds are surprisingly comfortable and the bathrooms are in good order. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

If I could give more than 5/5 I would! This Hostel is the best: not only the structure is new and well kept (spotless clean!), in a perfect position to explore the city, but also it has an amazing Staff which is the true heart of Code Hostel! They made me feel at home and helped all clients who had their flights/buses/trips canceled due to the severe weather! Having a nice cozy kitchenette to use freely also allowed guests to chat and get to know one other! Francesca, Quentin, Evan, Vera and Rafy, all have suggestions and recommendations on sights to see and pubs to try! If the idea of the Pod-bed weirds you out, don't get scared: they're spacious, super comfortable and actually pretty great for your privacy! And in case you needed some plus... THEY HAVE A WAFFLE MAKER for your breakfast! Best-stay-ever! If you're lucky, you might even catch a themed dinner party organized by the staff! Totally recommended for weekend visitors and long-term stayers!

We stayed in the pemthouse at the top and spoilt with lovely views from the blacony of Edinburgh. The breakfast here was a good way to prepare for a days walking about this awesome city. Staff were lovely and always willing to help.

Homely and friendly place in a great location. The hostel provides small eastern style pods, with charging sockets and comfortable bedding. Great value for money. 11/10.
