Stayed for 1 night last night. Staff were warm and welcoming. The room was lovely and clean, overlooking the racecourse. Went for a swim and the facilities were clean. The location was good for us we managed to walk into York and back but a bus stop was outside. Will definitely be back for another visit.
Beware of payments - ASK FOR CONFIRMATIONnnOur stay at the hotel was nice. The rooms were comfortable but very hot.nThe air conditioning was not cold and the window did not open enough to let air in.nThere was also some form of engine that was incredible loud so we could not keep the window open when we needed to rest or sleep.nnThe pool was nice and the gym well equipped.nnMy disappointment came later when I got charged twice for my room plus a £213 hold in my card - so a total of £546 for one night.nnThey first charged me when I arrived and on departure. I thought the first one would just have been a hold but no, it turned out I got three charges on my card.nnOn the day, they never told me the payment did not go through but they claim now it shows in their system as 'cancelled'.nnI have had to make a claim with my bank which will need to do the dispute on my behalf.nnThey did release the hold on my card, but I am still owed £170. I talked to the manager to get a written proof of this 'cancellation' and what she was claiming, but still have not received the email she promised.nnThey had problems with the systems when I arrived, so please get confirmation or receipts of any payments you make in the moment.nnSafe is to say, I am never coming back!
Beautiful location and the staff are so lovely and welcoming.nOur room was GORGEOUS!nnThe gym is well equipped and a lovely swimming pool too.nnThey even left me a little hamper for my birthday which made me really happy.
Family room, clean, good standard. Shower area a bit small just a bath with shower above, disability handles constantly in the way. No air-con and windows only open a couple of inches so rooms do get uncomfortably hot. But staff were lovely, be careful at the bar ordering food as they wack-on a service charge without telling you. Reception brilliant and chef was extremely helpful with food intolerance orders. Yes there are problems here but the actual stay was good quality and we were well looked after, thanks to all the staff who helped us.
We stayed for a few nights over the bank holiday weekend. The location is great for getting into York, there are bus stops right outside the hotel. The rooms were a good size and were clean, they had everything you would need. Like other reviews said the hotel and rooms did get warm, however a fan was provided which cooled the room down. There was a good selection for breakfast, both cooked and continental. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Would recommend for breaks in York.
