Story

Housed in a grade 1 listed Georgian townhouse built in the early 1700's and originally a Doctor's house before becoming a Judges Lodging - from which the bar,hotel and restaurant now takes its name. Extensively refurbished in time for July 2014, the Judges has 21 individually styled bedrooms, an original vaulted cellar bar,first floor dining and drinking and also 2 fabulous outside areas- quite unique within the centre of York.With a fabulous location in the shadows of the Minster, we offer a warm and friendly Yorkshire welcome to guests from all over the world.

Great place to stay. It's 5 minutes walk from the train station and brilliantly located very close to everything you want. Hotel staff are well trained, very helpful and quick with a smile. Room was very pleasant and had everything you need. I will be back

Went for a drink here with some work colleagues. Service was swift and staff polite. Drinks were reasonable and there was an adequate selection. The interior is tastefully decorated however we actually sat outside in the sunshine which was very pleasant.

Great place for sitting outside on a nice evening at the front or back patio. Friendly service at the bar and great drink selection. Quirky patio out back with nice lighting.

Food was amazing, meat board lush. Staff were attentive, friendly and not pushy. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic!! We came here for Sunday Lunch for a Birthday celebration. Our dog was welcomed along too, with a bowl of water and lots of cuddles. Food was fantiastic! Gravy delicious, beef was lovely and all the trimmings were all brilliant. Outstanding service from our waiter! Such a fantastic experience. 100% would recommend this place. 🍴
