The Groves is situated on a quiet tree lined cul-de-sac just a level ten minute walk from York Minster, the City Walls, and the City Centre beyond.

Story

On a quiet tree-lined grove, this large 4-star guest house is a 10-minute stroll from York city centre and offers free parking, en suite rooms and bar/lounge facilities.

The main building dates back to the late 1800s and The Groves still has some charming original features, such as a splendid grand staircase and patterned windows.

The bar is open until 23:00 each day. Guests can relax and read the daily newspapers, with a selection of beers and wines available throughout the day.

Bedrooms are located in either the main building or in 2 separate buildings around the car park. Please note that The Groves does not have a lift.

Been staying at B&B York (formerly The Groves) for a number of years and just love it! Staff are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Building itself is beautiful, great mix of old and new. Breakfast is by far the main attraction! Always cooked to perfection. Fantastic location aswell-short walk into city centre. You won't be disappointed picking here to stay

Nice hotel essentially, no lift meaning we had to walk up 2 lights of stairs to our room. Room was nice and clean. Only complaint really was at breakfast was a sheet of customers pinned to a column in the entrance way. Had everyone's names, room and how much we had paid on display. I believe staff were using it to keep track of who had and hadn't been down for breakfast, but not very good idea to have customer data on display.

Emma (the manager) and her team are fabulous. They are instantly friendly and very helpful. Every member of staff we came across was polite and approachable. The Hotel is wonderful and worth every penny and more. There was 7 of us altogether and our rooms were spacious , clean and comfortable. ...top notch. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this Hotel. There were plenty of breakfast options . They catered for everyone. Everything was cooked just right. Keep up the fantastic work Emma. Your team are a credit to you.

Had an awesome stay here for the jorvik festival,very comfortable bed and staff were amazing,awesome breakfeast and lovely quiet location easy walk into city centre and ample parking with option to park untill midnight on your check out day so you get an exstra days holiday will deffo book again
