There is a saying "all fur coat & no knickers" that describes this well. This is all appearance & not much substance. Great in photos. The walls are so thin I heard my neighbour unzip his suitcase. I know he was unzipping his suitcase because at the time she was telling him about something they forgot to pack. The pillows are foam and not feather and every bit as hard and uncomfortable as a sofa filled with foam, matched only by the hard bed. Only showers, not a single bath in the place. Guests are rationed to 4 coffee capsules for use in a device that leaves the drinker longing for a hot cup instead of the half hot fluid provided. This is a hotel for sales reps who missed their sales targets two months in a row, or swingers for whom comfort isn't the main purpose of the visit. The radiator isn't particularly responsive to urges to boost the room temperature, I also noted. But having said all that, the staff ate pleasant, helpful, obliging and probably longing to get a job in a proper hotel. I don't recommend this at all.

Stayed in room 402. Nice and clean with a modern feel. Free WiFi. There's no extra pillows and there's only 2 plugs which are located by the window so if you wanted to dry your hair by a mirror you won't be able to. Bathroom was modern and clean. The shower was nice a powerful. They provide little bottles of body wash and shampoo but there's also a large bottle of body wash actually attached to the wall inside the shower cubicle. Bed was very comfy. Heater on the wall next to the bed which heats the room nicely. The only issue here is parking. Ther4s limited parking at the hotel which you'll need to request at reception. There's car parks around the town but they're expensive. It seems as though the hotel restaurant has funny opening hours and they don't do room service on a Sunday. There were a lot of guest's getting food delivered to the hotel from the town.

Lovely clean welcoming hotel just a five minute or so walk from the city centre and a Tesco express is just along the road with late night opening. My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and it was much better than I expected....(my husband found it and booked it!!) The reception and bar area were lovely open and comfortable. The staff at front of house were very welcoming and helpful. The room wasn't the biggest but it was clean and very well equipped. Everything you could possibly need. We asked for some extra coffees the first morning and they gave us so many of extra coffees (sachets and pods! ) teabags milk sugar etc without any hesitation. The breakfast had lots of choice of cereal, fruit, yoghurt and pastries as well as a cooked breakfast and you could go back as many times!! Coffee and tea was constantly topped up for you! The restaurant staff were also lovely. We requested a late check out on the Sunday morning for the same day and it wasn't a problem at all. It was an extra £20 (per room not each) but I think it was definitely worth it as we weren't leaving York until later in the afternoon. I would definitely stay here again, without question.

Great service and very clean. Rooms a bit on the small side. Breakfast could have been better on the hot options.

Nice hotel in general, with very helpful staff. Restaurant has odd opening days, closed at weekends. Would strongly advise not using the hotel parking, at the time of my visit was directed to a run down garage which was more like a pigeon coop with dropping all over the floor and all over our car by the end of our stay and at £10 a day was disgraceful.
