I have stayed here a few times now, each time my experience gets worse to the point I won't be back.nThis last time I was given a double which had 2 twin beds pushed together, but each mattress was different in quality meaning I had a ridge running down the centre of my bed, so uncomfortable.nIt's surprising how much noise travels through the walls given the age of the building, at one point lying in bed I thought I could hear 1 TV and 2 other separate conversations.nBreakfast, woeful, only asked for poached eggs on toast, eggs were cooked good but not great quality, toast was like mush. The next day I asked for a bacon sandwich, dripping in butter and soggy.nI have seen other reviewers mention poor service, I have to say the staff are very friendly and helpful.
The hotel and staff were great but our room was very tired and dated.nCONS. The TV was stuck with minimal channels 8 lucky we weren't there for the TV. The sideboard was damaged, the sheets never got changed because the green mark was a constant reminder, the headboard had a stain in it.nThe toilet couldn't handle anything other than a few bits of toilet paper 4 goes to get rid of no 2.nThe room needed bringing up to the 2000s in general. We paid £300 3 nights .nPROs the staff were lovely the french barman gets 100% the downstairs area was a nice about it.nThe garden and patio was a nice place to sit and drink or chat . Good secure car parking £10 per day .
I would avoid at all costs. Which I don’t say lightly as I was looking forward to my overnight stay here as it looks like it is full of charm and character.nn‘Newly refurbished’ apartment room with sash windows that rattle in the wind, a mattress which is comparable to a bag of spanners, blood on the pillow case and heating that turns its self on in the middle of the night in August. Also no plugs near the bed and in very awkward places I think the refurbishment happened in the 90’s but unsure..nnEvening meal.. the French waiter was a nice man but the main was appalling. I ordered rib eye steak medium rare and it came out over half an hour later resembling a piece of stewing steak and it was well done and the chips were frozen chips.. I left the steak and the waiter obviously knew there was an issue and he did ask if i wanted it replacing, but after waiting so long and hearing the kitchen staff shouting and bellowing in the back, I couldn’t wait to leave. I was baffled he still charged me the full amount, but paid anyway as I didn’t want to cause a scene with the other two people dining in the restaurant.nnAll in all, an overnight stay cost me £300 and I ended up going to McDonald’s and leaving at 7am.nnFront desk ladies were nice but both unsure how the handle a complaint. No mention of a refund or some sort of compensation and I was baffled to pay £10 to park in their car park when the apartment had its own gated access with parking. The road is also very busy.nnIn conclusion.. if you want to stay somewhere to be kept up all night by rattling windows, heating on full blast in the night and you enjoy someone else’s blood on your pillow.. stay here!
Very nice hotel. Comfortable besd and larger than average bathrooms for the UK. Good restuarant. It was nice to be able to get dinner and breakfast without leaving, and the food was above average. The staff was extremely helpful and the bar was delightful as well.
Very nice hotel. Nice food in the restaurant. Breakfast is better a little later when it's quieter. Car park is a little small but manageable. Staff are mostly all very friendly and very attentive. We had one weird issue that was dealt with in an exceptional manner by the operational manager.
