My husband and I have just returned from staying the night at The Grand York. From the moment we stepped out of our car to the moment we left, the service was outstanding. We stayed in an executive suite, and it was pure luxury. The hotel really pays attention to detail. We paid extra to have breakfast brought to our room, and it was delicious. I can certainly recommend the French toast with bacon, berries, and maple syrup. I can't wait to stay again.
Just come back from another fantastic stay at the Grand and its about time i wrote them a review. The place is consistently excellent.nThe staff are all super friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We had an executive room which was pure luxury and very spacious. The spa is very good and an excellent way to relax if you are into them - reasonable size pool, jacuzzi and steam & sauna rooms.nWe ate in the rise restaurant on the evening and were sat with a great view of the open kitchen. The standard of food getting turned out was amazing and well worth the above average prices - they have a certain level of AA rosette award for the food and my missus who knows a lot about that award reckons the food was a better standard than even that high level of award was indicating.nBreakfast wise, i don't think you would find a better one anywhere in Yorkshire.....the options and quality were top notch - apparently to walk in and just pay for a breakfast is £25 which i would say was a bargain.nThe 'Grand' is an appropriate name for the hotel as everything about it is a bit special - the staff really do deserve a lot of praise though as they more than play their part. Looking forward to coming back.
Our original booking was with Ibis but was transferred as the Ibis was still being refurbished. The Grand was absolutely amazing. Staff were incredibly polite, friendly and helpful. So kind. The rooms and facilities were lovely. Added bonus was sharing the hotel with the England Red Roses! Will definitely be staying there again!
Room was lovely in new wing of hotel. Staff were brilliant, courteous and helpful. Only downside for us was the fact the air conditioning cannot go below 19 degrees which is ok during the day but far too warm for sleeping. I think they need to look at amending this as during hot weather the rooms get too hot for a/c to keep cool
Every aspect of the hotel and our stay was excellent. From the greeting of the doorman, the hospitality of the front desk, we were pampered and welcomed. All of the staff including housekeeping, the restaurant staff and the lounge staff were elegant and professional. The food at breakfast each morning was delicious, and our dinner at Rise was Michelin quality. We hope to return to York, and if we are so privileged, we will definitely stay at The Grand.
