I have used BMW Exeter, now Vertu, for 7 years since moving to Devon. I immediately noticed a significant difference in service level, not a positive one, compared to dealers in the North. I put this down to a lack of competition. Over the years I have had various issues with servicing and when I wanted to buy a £77k car they weren’t interested and the salesman only wanted to sell me their demonstrator which I made clear wasn’t for me. I duly went elsewhere and bought the car. Up north as it happened.nnLast time I went there for a recall I found the site was undergoing a renovation and had moved. I eventually found where they had moved to but it would have been useful to tell me they had moved.nnOne of the main problems is when you call to make a service appointment you aren’t speaking to the actual site in question but some central office. It just doesn’t work well enough and I’ve had various issues related to this point. A case of one hand not knowing what the other is doing.nnMy latest issues were in trying to book my IX in for its service. I have tried several times and ran into various issues with getting an appointment or it being changed. Eventually I got an appointment in March before receiving a mail, no call, to tell me it had been moved to April due to some issue or another. After deciding I was fed up with being messed around, again, I contacted another dealer and was actually able to book directly with the dealer site, a novelty, and get an appointment and courtesy car on a date that suited. No waiting months. I mailed Vertu explaining I would cancel the rearranged appointment and why and received no reply or even acknowledgment.nnIf you are buying into a supposedly premium brand and are definitely paying a premium price you should expect at least a reasonable level of service and sadly that just isn’t the case currently. Ultimately it’s not rocket science in terms of what a dealer is doing and I struggle to see why it’s seems to be so tricky to get right.nnI hope they sort it all out eventually. In the meantime I’ve voted with my feet. Or wheels..
Outstanding service. Cleaned my car inside and out, performed a recall, didn't try to force any ancillary services/products, sent me a clear video of the health check, kept me up-to-date all the time. Ultra polite and really helpful.
Great Brand represented brilliantly by a very knowledgeable and extremely hospitable team of people. Highly recommending them to anyone interested in buying a new or used BMW.
Servicing is extremely slow. Twice in a row now I’ve been given times that bore no resemblance to the actual time the car was ready. I was also quoted a totally different price on the phone to the price I paid the price I paid was of course higher. Not terrible but I expected much more from BMW.
Pretty poor service,despite this the staff were helpful.nWhen I picked my car up the screen was left in engineering mode and I could edit all my service settings!nThey didn't investigate the fault I reported when I dropped off. All in all I wouldn't recommend using them. Go to another approved bmw garage!nnDropped car off at 8:30 and it wasn't done until 5:20pm!
