Perfection. My husband and I just returned from a week’s stay at The Montague and I am delighted to add to the many rave reviews. I have stayed at innumerable hotels over my life and this is the very best one by a long shot. The primary reason: the people who work there. The staff is unfailingly professional, helpful, available and friendly — every single one of them and there are many. I have never had such good service in my life and I’m terribly picky! Each of them truly goes the extra mile. They do what is rare these days in the hospitality industry: they do not simply fulfill your requests — they anticipate them. I have to give a special thanks to Frankie, a young woman at the desk, who went above and beyond when we had a specific need. Further, there are many different common areas and all are exceedingly comfortable, fun and well done. I could easily have spent many more hours in these rooms curled up with a good book sipping tea, coffee, or hot chocolate that all available in the very well-appointed sitting room most of the day. While I’m not a London expert, I don’t think the location can be beat. It is both near all main attractions and neighborhoods and yet is on an extremely quiet street that does not feel at all touristy despite being across the street from the British Museum — the best of both worlds in my opinion. We had expected to take many tube trips but ended up taking only two because everything we wanted to see except Notting Hill was walkable. Our trip was for a special occasion and The Montague is what truly made it a special and memorable one. Rooms: We did in the end have two different rooms during our stay. Both were lovely and I can unequivocally say they have the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on.
I stayed here for a week and couldn't have been happier. The service was possibly the best I've seen out of all the hotels I've stayed at. The staff accommodated my requests immediately and kindly, and had a lot of knowledge about London to help me navigate. The hotel's in a great location, as it's in a very safe and nice part of central London that is next to multiple modes of transportation, tons of delicious restaurants, and the British Museum. The rooms are small, but they have everything that you would need during a short or mid-length stay. I highly recommend staying here if you are new to London and not sure where to go!
We stayed at the Montague on the Gardens for 4 nights on our trip to London last month. It is a beautiful, classic and historic hotel with exceptional customer service. The location is unbeatable, very walkable and right across from the British Museum. Will stay again next time I am in London.Rooms: 4/5
I feel compelled to write about my amazing experience at the Montague on the Gardens. Back story, I worked in hotels as a front office manager and bellman/valet while going to college, so I know the hospitality industry first hand. I have traveled extensively and I can say that my wife and I have never had a nicer experience at any hotel. The entire crew from the doormen to the maids and everyone in between were absolutely friendly and very accommodating. The food was wonderful and we actually had scones and tea very English complimentary from the hotel. My only complaint, and be it a minor one, was that the room was a bit on the small side. It was only a 30 minute walk from the London Eye within walking distance from many nice eateries.
I am going to miss staying here! The hotel is gorgeous, its location cannot be beat but it’s the people - servers, front desk, bellhops and room service - that make this a top notch place to stay. Everyone was so kind and attentive. If you come to London, this is the place to stay. Also, make sure you opt into the included breakfast…. best breakfast ever!! Hope to be back again soon!
We absolutely loved our stay at the hotel. Everyone there was soooooo nice and helpful, the rooms were beautiful, and the staff was fabulous. The recommendations they gave us were great and made our time in London even better. I would highly recommend The Montague on the Gardens and will absolutely stay here again when I come back.Rooms: 5/5
The Montague on the Gardens is a remarkable hotel in every way imaginable. The staff ensured very need was met, the rooms were private and wonderful, and the service was top notch. If I ever am lucky enough to return to London I will stay here!Rooms: 5/5
We just came back from a trip to London last week. Our stay at Montague on the Gardens was really wonderful. The service and location were incredible. Upon arrival, they gave my 11 year-old daughter a sheet to fill out that asked about her favorite things, which they then used to customize special treats for her e.g., they gave her a token to make her favorite drink, a shirley temple, with the bartender; the bartender could not have been nicer. They left us a box of chocolates the night before our departure. The hotel was located directly across from the British Museum and was within easy walking distance from several tube stations and some really good restaurants. It's also not far from St. Pancras, if you need to catch the train which we did, to Paris, and it was very easy. The room was expectedly small, but had high ceilings which made it feel more spacious.
Beautiful historic boutique hotel close to the British Museum. Rooms are small but perfectly formed with everything you need for a very pleasant stay. A delicious treat of homemade shortbread greeted me in the room which was a nice touch. I'll stay again when I'm back in town for work. Thank you!
