The Clarendon Hotel was fantastic it had character rooms were actually really nice the bed was really comfortable and I slept really well. We had tea and coffee. The shower was very nice, although I did let them know that I had the shower door didn't close properly. I think it was a new shower door. The staff were very, very welcoming, friendly, willing to help anything you needed. To be honest with you, I met the lovely manager of the hotel and I shook his hand. Very nice gentleman. Sorry if I can't remember your name but the stay there was just absolutely wonderful. The breakfast was wonderful. The service was wonderful. Do anything for me as a disabled person. There are quite a few stairs like going to the room. There was a few steps but I could manage just those out in the lobby. I would have to go downstairs to the toilet so unfortunately doesn't help a disabled person. So I'm not sure if it's suitable for someone in a wheelchair. Although they do have a lift they may have disabled rooms. I didn't ask so that's my fault for not asking. I would love to come and stay here again. I especially as my husband stayed there while I was having surgery at kings College hospital and it's not far from the cable car to take you over to the XL so if you have anything at the Excel was fantastic. Taxi wasn't expensive so if you wanted a taxi I think the taxing to London cost me 32 lb. So pretty good really. But I just like to say thank you to the staff because I had a lovely stay with my friends as we were going to a convention at the XL. I'll definitely be staying here again and thank you to the lovely lady and gentleman at the reception desk who done everything they could to help us and even upgraded our room which was lovely. It was so nice to have a treat of an upgrade, so hopefully I'd like to see them over Christmas and the new year to bring my husband up there for a nice special time in London. Once again thank you to all the staff including the people that make the breakfast and the cleaners. It was just a wonderful stay Rooms: The room was clean and tidy. There was coffee machine and the bathroom was nice. Could have been a little bit bigger but it was adequate for what we wanted and we had a very nice stay the bed. Very nice if you've got back issues and I slept like a log Nearby activities: Didn't get the chance to actually go out and about but we did get a cab which is going to take us to the Excel which cost about 32 lb. Unfortunately the backwall tunnel had a traffic jam as usual and so we took the cable car over to the Excel which was fantastic even though I'm frightened of them. I really enjoyed it and you can see the airport. You can see planes landing which was interesting but it was a bit cloudy. So or should I say foggy? And the view was a bit sad but you know we could see the lights for the aeroplanes and on the way back from the cable cards was actually pretty good at the hotel there actually was a lot of information of things happening in London and around the local area so that was really good
Nice room, breakfast very good with friendly and helpful staff in the restaurant and at reception. Excellent location on the edge of Blackheath, so easy access to the heath and Greenwich Park, plus local shops and restaurants. Our room was a little warmer than we liked for sleeping, and we found it difficult to lower. Breakfast finished at 9:30 on a weekday, which as a little early for us. But we still enjoyed our visit and would stay here again.
Its easily accessible, staffs are nice and helpful. Their toilets are also really clean and well thought out with cute towels in them. They also have ample parking which is extremely great! And oh, everywhere smells really nice.
Best part about this place is by far the staff. Location is also great, very walkable. The rooms are quite dated & old feeling especially for the price per night. Rooms: Very dated for price, but quant. Walkability: Can walk to pubs close or go for longer walks to Greenwich park. Food & drinks: The restaurant & bar in the hotel are great
My partner and I had afternoon tea at the Clarendon Hotel on Sunday. It was a lovely experience and we'd definitely visit again. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the location was impressive. The only downside was the fact we couldn't enjoy it in their lovely garden due to potential rain, but that wasn't their fault ; in fact, it was good they could still seat us.
Our room was very nice although a little dated but my daughter's room who got charged the same was like a run down retirement suite rusty disabled chair in the shower to boot ,we did ask reception why but apparently there was nothing they could do which I believe was untrue as my sister in law got her room changed. All in all bit disappointed for my daughter who I think got overcharged for what she got.
Enjoyed my brief stay. Staff lovely. Room very comfortable. Great breakfast lots of variety and all you could eat. It was an excellent location especially for London City Airport and as my visit was to relatives in Blackheath. I have walked past it many times and it was most enjoyable to see the inside and stay and eat there. Walkability: Close to Blackheath station and so convenient to central London and London City Airpot. Food & drinks: Excellent breakfast included in price.
Stayed here for a couple nights' stay. All the staff were very friendly and polite, nothing was too much bother. We thought we had a problem with the room door lock initially. The porter arrived very quickly to help us out, the key in the lock just required a bit more 'force' to remove it. We stayed in one of the back rooms, and whilst you don't get the lovely view over the heath, you are sheltered from the traffic noise. We had a few niggles with the room, which had been refurbished recently. The shower tray was leaking due to poorly laid sealant around the doors, which meant some of the water fell onto the bathroom floor. The shower cubicle doors did not close which didn't help either. The bed was very comfortable, but there was no aircon and just a wall fan unfortunately, which made the room quite warm. The curtains were not blackout, so any early sunlight came straight into the room. The buffet breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice for us. Would I stay here again? Despite the niggles, yes I actually would do. It's a great location to explore Blackheath and walk to Greenwich Park too. Safety: Hotel and local area felt safe with an after hours buzzer to get back into the hotel Walkability: Very close to Blackheath Station and local bus routes.
Exceptional hotel in the heart of Blackheath. The staff were very professional, welcoming and attentive; namely Pawel at reception. The hotel has a lovely, homely feel to it and I just wish I could have stayed here longer. I particularly loved the crisp white table cloths and having a top sheet on the beds! Given the temperature in London during our stay, this made such a difference. I loved the information folder in the room since a lot of hotels no longer have this assuming people prefer to look online. Not us! The Meridian restaurant where we dined on our first evening is the most beautiful room with big windows looking out onto the garden. The Goffers Lounge boasts lovely views over the heath. I couldn't fault this hotel and will definitely book to stay here again when next in London. Great train and bus connections to central London too. If you are looking for somewhere with a bit of character rare to find these days!, an excellent breakfast and a charming "Poirot" feel, book The Clarendon :
Small compact room. Tight bathroom, shower over bath. Quite noisy mornings and evenings, hearing doors close heavily and footsteps above. Earplugs help for sleeping. Breakfast staff and food was excellent! Friendly helpful people. The food offerings were broad and delicious! Walkability: Buses nearby as is Blackheath station for DLR to city. Bus to Woolrich Arsenal station to connect with Elizabeth line to Heathrow, excellent! Note the Elizabeth line station out there is separate to other lines. A short walk, look for signposts.
