Great location, nice area. Reception and bar staff lovely. Room very small, I guess it is central London, and the heating was a little hard to control. The bathroom wasn’t great, nowhere to hang towels to dry and not quite as clean as I would wish with long hairs on the floor. Nevertheless, would probably come again because it was a good price for the location
The hotel is conveniently located and easy to find. Checkin was welcoming and friendly and efficient. I stayed in a great sized room overall. Overall a satisfactory stay but a couple of improvements would be welcome: 1. The bed mattress was so soft and squashed on one wide that it felt like sleeping on a hill. 2. The TV in the room was tiny and hung in a corner of the room to in effect be completely pointless compared to other comparable hotel rooms.
What is great! The location, cleanliness & staff at the hotel are great. I booked this hotel for a 2 nights stay. What is not good- My room was on the ground floor and without a window, hence felt not so airy limited light. My experience with breakfast package- I had one negative experience which is why my overall rating is not high. I had booked my stay with breakfast included. I have a mail confirmation on the breakfast rate included in the booking. However, at the hotel, I was told to pay for breakfast even when I showed my booking details which had breakfast added to it. The staff told me that they cannot see the breakfast inclusion in their system. I ended up paying extra to have breakfast which is not at all okay as I already payed for it while booking.
Stayed fir 2 nights, room was clean, tidy and had all amenities as described. The only downside was that there was no natural light in the room as we were on the rear side of the building. This didn't detract from the visit but it would have been nicer. I signed up to the app to get the loyalty discount and better hotel rate only to find that actually you pay just the same as everyone else, the room rate dropped by the time we travelled but there was no alteration or additional benefit for being a member. That was very disappointing and somewhat misleading as they advertise members get the best price and additional benefits.
The way I measure my hotel stays... What's the breakfast like? Excellent selection of hot and cold breakfast buffet items. Plenty of space in the restaurant. The room was exactly what I needed. Somewhere to sleep, wash and dress before going into the office. The bed was very soft. I didn't want to get out of it. The bathroom used its space efficiently to fit the basin, bath with shower and toilet. The heated towel rail was a boon. I've stayed in too many hotels where you cannot dry your towels. But just like every London hotel I've ever stayed in, there's little water pressure from the shower. The staff were friendly and helpful. I'll stay here again if I need to work from the office on High Holborn another time. Update: My second visit within a few weeks was as good as my first visit. Friendly helpful staff. Fantastic hot and cold breakfast buffet. Even I did not manage to try everything! The beds are too comfy. I didn't want to get up to go to the office. Clever, efficient use of the bathroom space. I was on the sixth floor this time. Somehow, that gave higher water pressure in the shower compared with the first floor. Easy check in and check out. The invoice arrived in my email inbox before I'd made it to the front door. Walkability: Half way between Russell Square and Holborn tube stations. Food & drinks: Excellent breakfast, restaurant and bar in the hotel. Plenty of options for food and drink within a short walking distance.
[This review is about the ground-floor cafe space only] A Hotel breakfast restaurant that stays open throughout the day. The menu is generic, but the main advantage is that they are open after dinner time + you don’t have to drink alcohol. Highly recommended if you are just looking for somewhere to sit down without having to explain that you are that one freak in this town who doesn't do alcohol.
I recently enjoyed a 3 night stay here. The staff were very welcoming. The room was small but well appointed. Housekeeping was great. Extra special thanks to Tanya at reception who was very accommodating to my requests.
The receptionist at check-in was very cold, asked me how I would like to pay when the booking was already paid for, the room was so small I honestly think we were given a single room that the bed was touching the heating, we could not even go around it. We paid for 2 breakfast at check-out that were double charged to my credit card. I contacted the hotel and customer service 4x and no one got back to me, and no refund was done. Very dissapointed, the only good thing about this hotel is the location.
Hotel is conveniently located. Staff attitude was nice and they managed to deliver our room early. The room itself was spacious, however the window was jammed and there was no view. AC was weak. No working table. The strangest was a handicap/elderly friendly bathroom despite the fact that we are able bodied.Rooms: 3/5
We recently stayed at the Mercure Hotel, which boasts a fantastic location within walking distance of the British Museum, Russell Square, and the Brunswick Centre. The convenience of being so close to these popular attractions made our stay much more enjoyable. The rooms are on the smaller side but very quiet and comfortable, equipped with everything we needed. While there is no fridge in the room a decision aligned with their eco-friendly approach, it wasn’t a problem for us. The hotel provides ample complementary tea and coffee, which was a nice touch. One of the standout features for us was the option for a late check-out, making our departure hassle-free and allowing us to enjoy London a little longer. Overall, a great place to stay for anyone looking for a well-located, comfortable, and eco-conscious hotel in the heart of the city.
