We stayed overnight midweek with our two dogs. Warm welcome when we arrived, for us and our dogs. Staff relaxed and friendly, two resident dogs met us. We were informed our dogs could go anywhere in the inn. Lots of space for four legged friends in the hotel room, bar and dining area. No extra charges for dogs staying in the room. We were given information on walks around the area, one of which could be accessed from the car park of the inn across the road. Seating area outside the inn offers beautiful view of peak district. Slightly out of Hathersage, you could drive past this place. Good value for the price, included breakfast with vegetarian option. We ate in the inn, chicken pie so tasty Home made and large portions. For us with our dogs it helped us relax and enjoy our stay. Overall experience five star. by doggies well catered for.
We stayed on an autumn break package which was excellent value. The room was comfortable and warm. Our meals were very good especially the breakfast. The staff were friendly. The pub is well placed for visiting the area. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank-you.Rooms: 5/5
Our stay at the Milestone country Inn was lovely. They allowed my three dogs! Two German shepherds and one cross breed. One of my dogs isn't the politest so was a relief they were so welcoming. The food was lovely and at a high standard. Overall a really nice and friendly place to stay.
I would actually give 10 stars if I could!!! It was absolutely an amazing experience staying in there . Went there last night with our dog. People were so friendly and helpful. Amazing dinner and breakfast. We absolutely loved it and 100% going back again and I can’t recommend enough to everyone! Thank you so much for looking after us and see you next time
Great hosts. Lovely room. Hot shower. Liked the hanging space with room for 2 suitcases off the floor. Good food with huge portions. The location is obviously excellent. Hathersage is lovely with lots of walking opportunities. We will almost certainly be back.Rooms: 4/5
Fantastic food, especially recommend the vegan chickpea curry, the fish and chips, and the halal chicken burger. The inn is very cosy and well decorated, looks like a wonderful country home. Home away from home. Lovely and attentive staff.
Used to be lovely and the one lasting positive is an older member of staff who served the food - was very friendly and chatty. However over my last few visits the rest of the service, specifically the owner, has deteriorated. You are made to feel unwelcomed and like an inconvenience for even being there. Shame because its such a lovely location and have over the years enjoyed many pints looking over the peaks but will not be returning to the rude and frankly unacceptable service.
I booked to stay at this location based on its dog friendly write up and reviews. On arrival I went into the bar area to check in with my dog on a lead and saw the two owners dogs in the bar area. I asked if they were ok with other dogs and was told they are friendly only to have them attack my dog causing him injury! I had to take my dog to the vets as the bite wounds had become infected he was subsequently out on a course of antibiotics which I had to pay for, I did raise this with the proprietors, and they did kindly allow us to have a meal free but this did not cover the £200 pound vet bills I incurred and more importantly it ruined my 3 day trip to the Peak District as my dog was suffering throughout.l and I had to leave him in the room whenever I was there as I did not want another incident. The worse part is at no time was an apology given, be very wary if you take a small dog to this establishment. One very unhappy dog owner!!
Poor choice of Beers. Chips were hard on the outside and so dry inside that they sucked the moisture out of my mouth. Peas were like bullets. Instant gravy. The pie had a decent amount of filling but was tasteless. When we wanted to pay I had to search for the barman who was sitting in a different part of the bar with 2 of his mates. We won't be back!
Arrived at this establishment hoping to enjoy a nice Sunday lunch with my friends after a long hike in the peaks. The place was practically empty but were made to feel like we were intruding by the bald, bearded member of staff. Who felt the need to point out the fact that as we were all ordering and paying separately, our food would also arrive separately... it is almost as if Sherlock Holmes was serving me. We were then presented with very dry beef, and a generally bland Sunday lunch which almost reminded me of a school dinner. For £15 I'd expect a better meal and much better service! I feel second hand embarrassment for the lady that was also serving as she was really nice and apologetic on baldies behalf. Judging by the rest of the reviews, he is the only thing bringing this business down.
