Cracking pub off the main street of the village. Tiered beer garden and cosily decorated pub. Excellent menu with good vegetarian options, and the Ploughmans with extra cheese instead of pie, even if that is a blasphemy was fab. Friendly staff and even though the decor is lovely, its IS a dog friendly and slightly muddy boots friendly pub.
Wow. What a treasure at the gateway of the peak district. Stayed overnight, the room was very larve and comfortable, clean and well provided. Eat a small dish in the evening, but I wish i could have had more room. The menu read divine. Breakfast was amazing, hot, and no beans! Perfect. Lots of walking opportunities near-by. Everyone really helpful and friendly. Will stay here again deffo.
Drove in to a great size car park, the entrance to the pub was very nice and inviting, you definitely get the WOW factor as you walk up to the pub from the car park, we went as a group of eight and were accommodated very well, the interior of the pub is excellent and well laid out, also dogs are welcome which is a real positive, we ordered drinks and food from the table from really friendly staff, drinks were good quality, we ordered starters and main courses and when the food came out we weren’t disappointed, the presentation and taste fantastic, we ordered desserts and again presentation and taste were amazing, the atmosphere was amazing, facilities were great, overall a great evening out with friends at a great location… definitely recommend if you enjoy a great atmosphere, fantastic food and great drinks
Wonderful home made food, with lovely staff who are very approachable and helpful. The steak and ale pie by Tom was amazing! Dog friendly in the bar area too. Bonus ! Recommend if you're in hope valley looking for a place to eat.
Fantastic place, we had the dog friendly room, super clean, comfortable lovely bed and bedding. We ate our evening meal in the pub again great beer selection,wine and food dogs allowed in the "doggy" part of the bar. Breakfast one of the best genuinely I have had. Some great walks on the doorstep, the staff / owners couldn't do enough to help. We will be back!
Absolutely delicious Sunday lunch. Extremely dog friendly. Great beer. We will be coming back if we're in the area.
We stayed over her for a couple of nights in November in our camper, we booked ahead and had a meal one night. The staff were really friendly with a good selection of beers at reasonable prices. The food was great, pies seemed to be a speciality. A comfy classy looking place, wouldn't hesitate to recommend or visit again.
Beautiful setting Called on a Sunday on the way home from Yorkshire without booking. Staff were lovely and found us a table. Roast beef and lamb lunches were delicious with a larger variety of vegetables than you usually get Hope to visit again sometime
Very nice location and interior design. The vegan pie with roast veg was delicious, but the menu definitely needs more vegan/plant-based options. The grumpy female staff could do with being a lot more smiley and genuinely friendly with customers.
We stayed near the Derwent water arms on holiday last summer and thought we would go there for dinner on our first night, we ended up eating there every night. To say the food was fantastic would be an understatement and the service and warm welcome given by the staff was outstanding. A fantastic little Pub which I would recommend to everyone
