It's finally open again. It opened on 7th of April according to staff. Kitchen is still closed, but you can get nice pint after a long walk.Service: 5/5
Great pub. But ask if they serve food before paying for parking
Whilst short staffed, the chef was absolutely top notch even though he was clearly very busy. The steak we had in the evening was one of the best we've had. Breakfast was also great! The staff were tripping over themselves to make our stay comfortable, even though like the rest of the midlands right now, there were supply issues. Overall, we will defo be coming to stay again.
I had walked and hobbled around the ladybower reservoir and was hoping to pop in for a pint before making my way home.. I was gutted to find that Google maps show it as temporarily closed, although I think the rooms to stay in part is open for business, but sadly not the pub part. I do hope that all is alright and the pub may actually reopen in the future, as I was disappointed to find it closed, and with a skip next to the pub. Hopefully it'll be different the next time I may venture by, then I'll hope to happily give the place 5 stars
Had a fantastic roast , staff were friendly and accommodating. Great spot for a family Sunday roast and a pint after an a walk. Would have been 5 stars if it wasn't for the burnt Yorkshire puddings and the lack of a remote payment/second till the queue was huge just to pay our tab. All I all a great place. !
I don’t usually take photos of my food but I made an exception when I saw the food here. Stumbled on this place when looking for the dam, we went in as it it’s free parking if your a customer. It was quite, when we went which made for a relaxing atmosphere. You find a table and then your order food at the bar with your table number. The food was very very good, unbelievably tasty. Both me and my partner said it was best pub food, personally preferred it to tan hill which we visited recently. My only fault is that they ran out of a lot of the choices very quickly.
Had food here and the restaurant was absolutely disgusting. Dirt and grime everywhere, sticky tables, dead fly on the table. Service was even worse. The young man serving use our lunch was so too busy watching F1 on his phone that he couldn't put it down to bring out our food and meant he could only carry one item at a time. Most unprofessional service I've ever had. The food was also terrible and we only managed a few mouthfuls each. When the very unhelpful waiter took our plates he asked if it was ok to which I replied no it was terrible and he just walked off without a care in the world. But he did manage to keep his phone in his hand with the F1 at full volume. He then came back for the second plate making sure he didn't miss a single corner of the racing. This place is an absolute joke. I also had the chance to use the toilet which was a big mistake. I walked in and there was a layer of water and urine covering the whole floor. It looked like the pipe from the urinal might have been leaking. I felt so dirty after leaving this pub I had to take a shower. Will never visit here again and I recommend that you avoid at all costs.
A pleasant pub. Food was okay but a bit overpriced. We stayed the night and rooms were clean and beds very comfortable. Best sleep I've had in a while. Great location too! Staff were friendly and doing their best despite being short staffed. Would return if visiting the area again.Rooms: 4/5
Great location, staff are very friendly, lovely walks in the area
Called in for a drink on our VERY wet cycle ride received a warm friendly welcome. There's a large car park opposite pay & display but this is Free for customers subject to conditions. As an added bonus you can stay in a campervan too "Brit Stop" style although the busy Main road may be a downside but the views are gorgeous.
