Nice pub, a large group of us popped in after a day of hill walking. We were a bit muddy and the pub was really busy, so were asked to sit outside patio heaters were on, under cover which we didn't mind. The service was great, and I was given a taster of the beer I wasn't sure about. Lovely spot to stop, would go back again if in the area.
Not an up to date review. Stayed here in 1991 after walking the Pennine Way from North to South. One of the best nights sleep I have ever had, and the beer tasted like nectar of the gods. I think that was maybe due to having walked 270 miles to get there. Walking distance from Edale Station, the local sights and of course the PW start/finish.
I visited today for a quick pint before my train back to Reddish North. I had a pint of old Rosie cider which was very refreshing. I wanted food but didn't have time. Nice looking boozer with plenty of outdoor seating.
Nice pub with good outside space, amazing when the sun was shining. Had a few outside seats with heaters. Inside was a bit clammy and no atmosphere. We had homemade pie and chips, pie had very little filling in which was disappointing. Not a good Guinness! Staff were nice.
Really great pub that had a fabulous wood burner, most welcome when we stopped by after our walk around Kinder reservoir. Staff very friendly and good choice of drinks. Very clean inside and well maintainedService: 5/5
What an amazing stay!! Carole and all the rest of the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The room was lovely and I slept better here than I do at home!! Perfect location for Kinder Scout too. Woul definitely come back!
Poking around out back of Edale Station after a spot of lunch, we were delighted to find this excellent pub. Dismal day, it has to be said so the warm friendly environment was most welcome. I had the pork belly which was succulent and flavoursome. The black pudding mash was a tad gluey but the pile of roasted vegetables was excellent. A pint of Cheshire Cat made it complete. My wife had the pork stroganoff and rice from the specials board and some cider. Seemed to go down well.
Spent the night after the train strikes. We were looked after, good food and nice rooms! They also gave us a lift to the next village so we could get back to Sheffield! They bent over backwards for us to get us back home else we would have been stuck after a 5 day wild camp
Beautiful surroundings of Edale with quality time spent there. Staff and atmosphere were great. I would love to go back again and may be stay there for a day or two. I took some photos outside and posting few clicks. Lovely place.
This is a very popular pub, and deservedly so for visitors to Edale. Located in the Peak District the pub is surrounded by very popular walking terrain ranging from family rambles to those seeking to start or finish the Pennine way. The pub offers a good range of food and drink in a pleasant environment
