Fantastic Sunday lunch with the family in front of a roaring fire. We all had roast dinners beef and vegetarian Wellington. The quantity was generous but not over the top, and you can choose a half portion if you're not too hungry. Very good selection of options if you don't fancy a roast dinner. They had plenty of beers from local breweries on tap. The Green Mountain from Thornbridge was our favourite. Service was warm and friendly throughout. A lovely little pub, highly recommended. Nearby activities: Great walking in the area. Paths along the River Derwent from Froggatt down through Calver to Baslow are favourites.
We dropped in for a lunchtime meal a few days before Christmas and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the venue and catering. Also the warm welcome from the bar staff male, from Dore and the owner/manager. It's a place we have driven past and not stopped many times but on this occasion, with the road being closed, we were walking. We shall definitely visit again. Food & drinks: The menu has some great options, both sandwiches and mains. We both had the steak and ale pie which was superb. We knocked on the kitchen window to let chef know how good it was as we left.
Booked a meal at lunchtime on New Year's Day - we'd driven past many times but this was our first visit. Lovely atmosphere with tasteful decorations, a log fire and a quiet as in not noisy - it was busy restaurant. The food and service were both excellent with interesting menu choices. We very much enjoyed our visit and intend to return, rather than drive past!
Great beers, great service, great food - what more do you want from a pub? We stumbled across The Chequers in Froggatt on arrival for a short Peak District break as our cottage wasn't ready for us. The welcome was very warm and we enjoyed a couple of hours of lovely food and ales. Starters - crab spring roll Mains - steak and ale pie / game suet pudding Dessert - ice cream and polenta cake We also bought some local ales to take put plus a couple of sandwiches for later in the day. The food was really nice. The pub is on a busy B road with the car park across the road so take care crossing, especially if you have kids. Paths are lacking so if you're on foot keep your wits about you. But its worth the effort for sure. Perfect after conquering the nearby Froggatt Edge.
Unfortunately it's time for us to go home Our stay here was amazing , delicious quality food and drink and 10 out of 10 for all staff who are so accommodating and friendly. Our room was lovely and added bonus of having a roll top bath and a lovely view from the windows. We highly recommend the Chequers Inn as we have thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay and plan to return in the future . Rooms: Very clean and extremely comfortable Nearby activities: Walking, shopping , Walkability: Beautiful scenery and you can choose appropriate routes for your ability Food & drinks: Plenty to choose from and top quality food especially the Sunday roast which is the best we have ever had.
We booked in for a dinner, bed and breakfast midweek deal which was excellent value. We had a reserved table for dinner. The menu had a good range of choices and the service was good. The bedroom was well appointed with plenty of space. A really good midweek break.Rooms: 4/5

Stayed at chequers inn on 4th Nov as we're visiting Xmas markets at chatsworth house the next day which was only 3miles drive away. Its a very cozy pub with log burner and plenty of tables. The staff are AMAZING..very attentive and just lovely. The food was delicious. Nice clientele. Great walks on the doorstep. Rooms were clean and quiet. Lovely new bathroom. We'd definitely stay again and recommend.
